The Old Testament are those books of the Bible that were written and relate to events that happened before the birth of Jesus.

The New Testament starts with the Book of Matthew and goes through the book Revelations. These documents relate the story of Jesus and tells about the Apostles and the early church. Revelations is in a category of its own, but was definately written after Jesus was born and died.

Old Testament begins with Genesis and ends with the book of Malachi. New Testament begins with Matthew and ends with the book of St. John's Revelation.
People can't just add or take things out... What is done is that people make their own conclusions and speak and write what they think is meant. So, it is always better to do your own private reading and you make your own conclusions or ask for guidance. Now, a Catholic priest will not agree on most passages with a Protestant pastor. According to the theological guidelines each will have different beliefs and that has meant trouble through history and which has brought so many divisions since Christ left this world.

The Old testament is almost like a history lesson in a sense. It was the account of the beginning of time. This is when God came up with all the rules people needed to live by. People were very stubborn and wouldnt follow his strict rules. So people would have to sacrifice clean perfect animals to wash the sin away. People started getting greedy and sacrificing dirty animals. There was so much sin and so many animal sacrifices. God started getting angry that people werent taking his rules seriously. So then the new testament began with the birth of Jesus. he was going to be the perfect flesh to sacrifice himself so peoples sins would be washed clean by his perfect blood. People im sure are creating their own rules but if they were really following the bible there would be no need. Its all in there. Jesus came in the New testament and preached the gospel and healed before he died. He states that he is not trying to get rid of Gods laws through moses, only redefining them. Noone is perfect and After the Old testament God knew he wanted to bring salvation to people who wanted it and the easiest way was to hang jesus on the cross and wash peoples sins away with his perfect blood. Noone should be making their own rules but following the rules of the Bible. Noone is perfect so following every single rule in the bible would be a difficult task and if you say that you have then you would be perfect and only God is perfect!

Old Testament is the first half of the bible (better known as the Hebrew Scriptures), and the New Testament is the Christian Greek scriptures. Both testaments together make up what we know as the bible.

Old Testament refers to Jewish books, some determined law, others were historic accounts.

New Testament refers to books relating to Christianity, mostly compiled from letters written in the first 300 years after Jesus disappeared.

The Old Testament is the historical account of the Jews before Christ was born. It includes prophesies regarding the birth of Christ.
The New Testament, which hasn't been added to since around 95 AD when Revelations was written, is an account of Jesus Christ's life, and the beginning of the Christian church.

What else are you trying to insinuate?

Testament is the same as covenant.
The old blood covenant was conditional, [If you obey I will give you life]
The new covenant is unconditional. [I provide the way, just believe]
