I got an infection in a tattoo that I got in "the ditch" of my arm. I haven't had a problem with any of my tattoos before, so this is totally new to be. I got it Saturday night and started oral antibiotics and a topical cream from my doctor on Wednesday. Will my tattoo be ruined or might it end up looking ok? There's no color. It's just black and shades of grey. Thanks for any input!

Its should be fine, but sometimes the tattoo needs to be touched up. Just wait it out and see. Usually artists will do touch ups for free anyway.

Healed Infected Tattoo

That doesn't sound too good there. Keep in mind though that a tattoo actually takes around 3 months to completely heal. Don't use any type of lotion on it -- this may also be causing the infection along with everything else. You can either use triple antibiotic (neosporin, or even the cheap brand) or A&D ointment. IF you have to wear socks, put a loose bandage on it while at work or when you go out, but make sure you take it off and cleanse the whole area with luke warm water - NO SOAP and then reapply the ointment. Do not rub it, if it itches, slap it or gently rub over the area. Also, your tattoo may peel - that is a sign of it healing. Good Luck!

You have to make your own decision. If you think it looks that bad, go see a doctor. It could be infected, either by something you did, or something the tattoo artist did (but lets hope not!). If not, try treating whatever "it" is yourself. Use some A&D ointment, a very thin coat. And don't wear shoes! You should have gotten a foot tattoo in the summer, when you can wear sandals that wont irritate the new tattoo.

As long as you don't peel off the scab before it heals it might still be OK.

If the infection pushes out the ink, you might need to get it re done well after it heals.

I don't think so dude. if I were you I'd get myself to the nearest clinic or hospital to have it checked out by a doctor. In the mean time do not touch it don't put anything on it that could make the infection worse.
