If God had a face, what would it look like? And would you wanna see, if seeing meant that you would have to believe?

If god has a name, he seems a little confused as to what it actually is, given the number of variants there are. Maybe he's like members of the royal family, who seem to have a shedload of names for different occasions. Would explain why he's never (according to some faiths) been married.
"Do you Gaia, take this god Allah Yahweh Osiris Zeus Jupiter Flying Spaghetti Monster Big Something That Can't Entirely Be Defined...to be your lawful wedded husband...or wife...or whatever...?"
Calling it to his face would then seem to be a bit of a memory test, but I'd give it a shot. NB to some other answers - names are different to titles, so by all means call his Almighty, Father, or whatever, but those aren't technically names.

Gods name is not known to man, and for those that think they know it such as "I AM" or "Jehova", do you seriously think that God would pick an English name? The language of God's universe is probably not english and only our arrogance would assume so. God has many names, many faces, but is a spirit. He/she can appear in many forms, on many paths. No one or the other is any right or wrong. Until God actually comes down here IN PERSON to this day and age, we are free to call him/her/it whatever we like.
Would I choose a name a call it to her face? Of course! I'd pick the closest name that resembled the image she/he shows me when I die, out of the hundreds of God's names that I've learned here on earth. I mean it wouldn't make any sense to call God Yaweh (a male name) if I find out God is a SHE right?

The Bible tells us His name Is Jehovah, which is a latinised version of The Hebrew tetragrammaton, whose characters translate as yhwh, Hence Yarweh. It appears just once in The Bible. ' My name is Jehovah '. It means ' I am '. Use of His name was avoided and what is really a general term ' God ' has been used instead. This is probably because people were once worried about inadvertantly using His name disrespectfully.

In Christianity, God does have a name. He said to Moses in Exodus 3 verse 14 that His name was "I AM WHO I AM". This doesn't come across sounding great in English, but I believe that in Hebrew, it is the equivalent to Jehovah.

Mark 14:36
And He was saying, "Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will."
Romans 8:15
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"
Galatians 4:6
Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

Hello,
I am taught that God does have a name, His Name is Yahweh, and this was taught to me at school many years ago, and His Name is in the Bible in many places, and means Father.
This was taught in a catholic school, and is not to be used in vain. Whether I would be allowed to call him by name is something I would be too frightened to do, but I would if He said it was alright. I hope this helps you. .............Tony M
