Eligible educational institution. An eligible educational institution is any college, university, vocational school, or other postsecondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program administered by the Department of Education. It includes virtually all accredited public, nonprofit, and proprietary (privately owned profit-making) postsecondary institutions. The educational institution should be able to tell you if it is an eligible educational institution.

Certain educational institutions located outside the United States also participate in the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid (FSA) programs.

to be a full time student u need to take 12 credits during a year, usually 3 or 4 classes.
U should get a tax form from your college, than u type into your tax filing.
If its an accredited school, it doesnt matter if u had to drive to a place to earn those credits. .or if u just had to get up to a computer to get those credits.

It probably depends on how many credit hours you are taking. For instance, some schools consider 12 credit hours to be full time while others consider 16 or 18 credit hours full time. It usually doesn't matter if it's online or not, as long as it's an acredited school.

It is based on numer of credits, I don't recall exactly but I think it is 12 for under-grad and maybe 6 or 9 for graduate. Check the IRS website, for the exact #s for full time, but I know it doesn't matter if it is at-home, online, or distance learning. Just the credits.

If the school is an accredited school (you can file for financial aid for going to the school, etc.) then it would qualify.
