walking is better, a brisk walk on the mill will do both.. a moderate and constant action does so much to burn fat and tone muscles..
and sweat.. remember you must sweat get rid of those toxins in your body!
not only will it burn fat and tone muscles but it'll help prevent some very major health issues such as diabetes.
:D
key is moderate... excess doesn't have long term effects.
treadmill... brisk walk.. you'll see and feel the difference in just one week.
just 30 min. a day for 4 days is all you need.

Running on a treadmill, by far, if you actually do run (not walk!) I use the treadmill as my primary means of exercise and have for the past 10 years or so. I lost 50 pounds that way and have kept it off for years. I do the elliptical once or twice a week to save my knees though. They're both good but in my opinion you'll see results the fastest with the treadmill.

Treadmill, run 6mph and you burn alot more calories quicker, than you would have to do the elliptical. However, I think the elliptical helps build muscles more especially in the legs and butt.

I think they're both good--the eliptical trainier lets you adjust the resistance so it works your muscles differently. I'd go to www.fitnessmagazine.com - they always have something listed. I think the eliptical trainer is a little easier on your knees, etc than running. I personally have had weight loss succeses with both. When in doubt - switch off!
