UIC does not offer a good quality "college experience" compared to most other schools. It's not as easy to meet new people on campus, unless you join a club or sorority or happen to meet someone through a class. The people there are retardedly antisocial, and are just too stupid to break out of it. It's ridiculous. When I started going there in '01, it was bad enough that people didn't talk to anyone or didn't care to meet new people, when I left in '06, it was to the point where nearly everyone on campus was giving eachother dirty looks all the time, for no reason. Seriously, it's not normal, and the people there know it but they continue to be that way. Maybe it's changed now, I don't know, but I suggest checking it out during the school year to see for yourself.

The good things are that it is right by the downtown area, and right by the blue line train which can take you right downtown and to other trains that will take you north or all over the city to shop, dine, drink, see shows, etc. There's a lot to do and there is great public transportation, and the school gives you a U-Pass that is good for the whole semester on all the CTA trains and buses. Just be aware of the schedules because for example the blue line trains only come every half hour or longer after 1 or 2 am. So basically you can have the most fun off campus unless you are friends with other people at the school or at other schools and you invite them over or go to their school.
The academics are good at UIC but the general consensus about the campus isn't so great. DePaul and Loyola are better for the social life, if you can afford going there. I really suggest giving it a good look for yourself and getting more opinions before you make a choice.

At UIC there are several popular bars. The popular west campus bars are Illinois Bar and Hawkeyes. A lot of people go to clubs. Many people join various clubs. Fraternities/soroities are not popular at UIC, but they are still an option. I've gone to movies, walked around downtown. It's really what you make of the situation.

Wow - there are people like her right here in Illinois? Wowzers - i did no longer understand we had a legislator like that... That being reported, I disagree together with her. Atheism isn't risky. besides the indisputable fact that i'd desire to tell you, i'm no fan of Sherman...he in basic terms lives some cities faraway from me - *shudders* - i think of he took the mandatory silence element way too heavily. I advise, we had it in my college while it became required - in fact it went like this - a voice got here on over the intercom announcing "stable morning, please upward thrust for the Pledge." We stand. Ten seconds later, the guy began analyzing the pledge. purely like that. no longer something "non secular" approximately it. It gave you sufficient time to stand up and that became it. communicate approximately making a mountain out of a molehill... Peace!
