It's just on the top of the walls and has been on about 5 years. There is wall paint underneath it.

pull as much off w/ your hands as you can. Then mix some fabric softener w/ water in a spray bottle and soak the paper backing that's left.I actually used a cooking spatula to scrape ours off.Be careful about this or you will make holes in the sheetrock. We have removed wallpaper and border off the walls in 4 rooms in our house.

I have waited for such a question cause I was so excited to share my answer...but someone already beat me to it. I had border in one of my bedrooms for over 5 years and the top of the border only came off leaving the backing. I did the 50/50 of water and fabric softerner and was blown away with how easy this was. I didn't have to go out and buy anything, it was right there in my laundry room!

The person who swears by scrubbing bubbles is an awesome suggestion. I use that for everything as well but never thought of the walls! I tried scrubbing bubbles on my cabinets over the stove, the ones that get caked up for whatever reason! My cabinets still shine beautifully and there was literally no scrubbing. If you put the sb on and leave it for about 10 minutes you take a hot cloth and also remove the dirt from your cabinets. Again, I use that on everything! Sorry to rant but for those of you reading......it is nice when I look for an answer or find one that more people agree with!

I would rent a steamer from a rental store, which they have to remove wallpaper, if it's a large room. I've seen professionals use hot water in a lawn sprayer, first you score the walls with a wallpaper scorer, it's like a dressmakers wheel, you move it around it makes small holes in the wallpaper, then spray the hot water on the wall, if it's like a tile floor only, let it soak then take a wall paper scraper to it. I would recommend just for borders use the strip it product, and the wheel you can buy these items in a home improvement store.

They make a device observed as a "Paper Tiger" (i think of) that has a team of around cutters that make minute cuts interior the floor of the paper. Use the main well liked water you are able to stand, moist down a three x 3 section basically, wait 30 seconds or so and start up gently working with a scraper (2.5 inch putty knife form, no longer paint scraper form) What you pick is to split the paper from the glue devoid of digging into the wallboard or plaster. The glue ought to be got rid of later with extra warm water and a few TSP (TriSodiumPhosphate bought at hardware shops - positioned on rubber gloves and safeguard your eyes). in case you are not getting each and every of the glue off and you paint over it, the paint won't stay adhered to the sections with glue and you have got peeling of the paint in a pair of month or so. you are able to paper over some glue as long because it relatively isn't any longer a thick layer that ought to coach interior the process the paper.

I've taken alot of wall paper off and the best thing is good old warm water and a little dish soap..its alot better and cheaper. Oh and a little elbow grease. Apply with a rag or small towel and give it time to soak in a few minutes then a plastic putty knife will help and pull. Have fun.

Well you might find this very hard to believe but I just did the very same thing. I tore off the border and of course the backing with the glue was still attached to the wall. I used "Scrubbing Bubbles" sprayed it on and ran my open hand over it and it was off in minutes. I kid you not.
I have so many uses for Scrubbing Bubbles and have used
it for so many years that I should have heeded my Mom's advice and bought stock in the company.
But this does work.

Warm soapy water and a big sponge. Blot the water on at one end and start pulling away (preferably clockwise around room). Keep wetting it as you're pulling it off and this will keep it in tact with less damage to the wall.

Try using a half and half mixture of fabric softener and hot water.Spray the border and let it soak in for 10 to 15 minutes. It will make it slippery and it comes off alot easier.

most borders are dry-strippable... grab an edge and pull... if the paper stays and the vinyl covering/print comes up: GOOD! Spray with water and rub with a sponge to remove the brown base paper.
