You can't blame them...the Bible is a bit bi-polar itself ("I destroyed everything, then I repented."--God) Add to that the fact that the religious leaders are experts in double speak...if you confuse people just enough, that means they are too confused to think for themselves, and they have to come running back to the leader to know how many times a day God wants them to change their kid's diaper.
Its as brilliant a marketing strategy as selling electronics that break down two days after its warrenty expires.

Oh, my, somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed, huh?
The "one you have in mind" is the one you should be angry at.
Concerning Christ being love, tolerance and understanding - He is, to a point. There are lots of things that God hates. Why would you think that to be Christian means you must love everything? Do you love a person who has just repeatedly raped a three year old until they died? I don't. Was Christ tolerant of the jerks who set up a store inside the Temple to make money on sacrifices? If memory serves me, He went out and made a whip and beat them out of His House. Alot of times, love means correction. If you are looking for a religious group of wimps, look elsewhere. Thats not the Christian way - not the true Christian way.
If something is wrong, anybody, Christian or not, who has any kind of a backbone, will say its wrong, instead of just being all love and joy, and being politically correct. Thats being dishonest. If something acts like a turkey, talks like a turkey, and looks like a turkey, guess what - its probably a turkey. I say it like it is;
Thats not being unloving - its being honest.
If you feel there are no redeeming qualities to a Christian, then you are quite free to go to another section where I'm sure you will find folks like you - who are perfect and have loads and loads of redeeming qualities.
When you find these "perfect" people, let us know, because the last time I checked, they didn't exist.
I am a Christian, and I do practice exactly what I preach. If you also practice what you preach, then it sounds like you practice judging, intolerance, ignorance, dishonesty.
You need some sleep, I think. Or anger management.

>>Yet almost without exception Christians are judgmental, intolerant, ignorant, dishonest and have no real redeeming qualities.
Wow I didn't know I was all that bad. I will try to do better.
>>Why can't Christians just practice what they preach?
Because we are flesh and as sinful as everyone else. When we accept Christ as lord of our lives we start to be conformed to the image of Jesus. If I had been a serial Killer and was killing 5 people a week, repented and accepted Jesus then I might slow down to one murder a month and eventually none. People will point and say "He is not a Christian, he's a killer!" The answer is he is a Christian and he is a killer. Eventually we all will look more and more like Jesus depending on our relationship and our willingness to yield to his kingship. If we had to be perfectly Christlike to be Christian I would still be a miserable self absorbed Atheist.

Not all Christians are Hypocrites as you say. Just some are. You haven't met all the Christians in the world. Just the ones around you by where you live. The reason's why some Christians don't practice what they preach is because they don't know how to.
They may think they are but they don't observe other Christians practicing the religion so they think they are doing the best that they can. So they think that talking is there way of preaching the religon. When in reality Action's is preaching the word of God, Not talking. And that Is one sermon I wish that a lot of Pastor's would talk on.

Jesus was about love, tolerance and understanding he was also blessed with more wisdom than we will ever hope to know. He had the balance of wisdom and knowledge, we as christians try to be Christlike but we will never have the wisdom Christ had, even though we think we are knowledgeable, I think we fall far from that tree. Our own nature fights against most of what we preach, until we teach ourselves to be more like the teachings. To offer love and compassion to others, not belittle them because what they do is wrong in our eyes. For every doctrine there's a million more, and for every Bible verse there are hundred's of interpetations. But compassion is compassion, just as mercy is mercy, and as followers of Christ that is what we should be doing, loving one another, not telling each other one is right and the other is wrong. Let God Be God and when He calls on someones heart they can answer.

What we commonly refer to as Christians are actually divided into several groups - e.g. Roman Catholics, Greek Orthodox, Protestants, etc. We call them "hypocrites" because they "don't practice what they preach". But how do you know what's being preached in their religion if you're not even part of it?
It is very easy to say that they are "intolerant, ignorant, etc." just because we do not know what they have been through. It is true that Jesus teaches about love and understanding. Factor in over 500 years of religious struggle and setting up a hierarchy and you get what we experience now.

Wow, are you perfect? Have you NEVER engaged in being judgemental, intolerant, ignorant, and/or dishonest?
Because this question of yours seems to be very judgemental and intolerant.
Just because one Christian you know annoys you doesn't give you the right to insult all of them. Could you do the same with black people? How about homosexuals? Would that be okay, or would you be a bigot?
Not all of us are bad people, but none of us are perfect. That includes YOU.

Not all Christians are hypocrites. I like to think most people do their best no matter what they believe, so please don't lump us all together because of the few you have experiences with. You are wrong in saying Christians should be tolerant. We have rules of right and wrong and should not tolerate anything else. That shouldn't equate to hate and violence, just correction and avoidance. That comes from the love and understanding of God and His Son Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
May God Bless you.

The number one thing that Jesus did was to love God the Father above humans --- then humans. Humans now days want to put humans above God. Jesus whipped people out of the Temple over insult to God. The Holy Spirit caused a couple to fall over dead because they lied to him. Do not make up a Jesus, read what the REAL Jesus was like and what he said.

Remember that not all Christians who say they are Christians are... ... Observe carefully faith and deeds. Pride is something that was hated by Christ on the Pharisees who wanted the high places but their insides were dirty.
Why do people go to Church or become Pastors? If it is to look cool, or to socialize, or to hear themselves sing or network - then their worship is simply noise to God.
There is no need to look to men for answers because all have fallen short the glory of God. If you decide that God is real, then what does it matter what men think, when in the end you would be facing him (God)?
Can you face him and say you did not follow him because Christians are hypocrites? Would he not say that he never knew Christians who were not Christians?

Jesus was about love and understanding and tolerance. He was also about the truth of the consequences of people's actions. He cried over many of the choices people made, but He allowed them to make those decisions. He still does.
Many Christians get wrapped up in making people aware of the consequences of rejecting Jesus Christ, and forget to accept their choices. It's not that we don't love people, we get caught up in "doing Christianity" and we forget to "be Christians". We're human, too, you know?
I'm sorry you have had such a bad experience with Christians. My promise to you is, you will have a better experience with Christ Himself. Are you willing to take these questions to Him directly? Are you willing to try?
