A child who is under 18 years of age at the time of the application may acquire citizenship by descent through registration at any Australian overseas post, provided: At least one parent is an Australian citizen at the time of the child's birth, and that person is the "responsible parent." ... When a parent has acquired Australian citizenship by descent, they can only register their children if the parent has spent a period of time greater than 2 years legally residing in Australia.

So you need to go to the Australian High Commission in London and apply for your son's citizenship and passport:

As long as one parent of the child is Australian by birth, the child will be eligible for Australian citizenship by descent.

To apply for Australian citizenship by descent you will need to obtain forms from http://www.immi.gov.au and submit with original documents (as listed on the form) to the Australian High Commission in London.

Once citizenship has been granted you can apply for a passport.

I think at some point you will still need to obtain permission from the father for the child to travel.

In regards to getting a UK passport for your child you can just apply at the Passport Office / Post Office for this.
