I have a nautical star on my back. It's black and teal but I've decided I want to get it changed so it's all one color, a regular star. Anyone know if they can cover the black with another color or do I have to make the star all black? Thanks!

NO!!!

I've been tattooing for 20 years and the only color that covers black is black. You can lighten black tattoos that will allow you to use other colors but they are usually darker colors like blue, dark violet and hunter green.

Usually nothing can cover black. Certain lighter shades can change the appearance of it sometimes, but depending on the tattoo and if the ink is faded or not, your options will vary. Best thing to do is talk to a tattoo artist and ask what can be done.

no, you can't but why do you want to make it all one color? were the lines poorly drawn? black can only be covered with black unless the current tattoo is very badly faded then it can be covered with another dark color but that usually happens with very old tattoos. good luck with whatever you decide to do.

no u can;t cover black with another colour.... but they have this stuff out now and it will fade ur tattoo a bit so that u can cover it with something else....So maybe if u did that then yes.... but it takes a few months to fade it!

Sure thing! Just pick a color darker than black, and you're all good.

It'll end up looking really tacty and unprofessional if you try to cover it up. Do your research before you make your decision.
