IN MY OPINION THIS DAY HAS BECOME WAY OVER COMMERCIALIZED NOT UNLIKE HALLOWEEN ST PATRICKS DAY. AS A MAN, I DON'T NEED A DESIGNATED DAY TO SHOW MY AFFECTIONS. WHAT IS SEXY, CREATIVE OR ROMANTIC ABOUT AN "ASSIGNED" DAY WITH A SHORT LIST OF "PREDETERMINED ACCEPTABLE" GIFTS? C'MON, ALL YOU WOMEN OUT THERE...SET ME STRAIGHT. TO ME VALENTINES DAY IS JUST AN OVER HYPED, OVER COMMERCIALIZED "HOLIDAY". TELL ME WHY I'M WRONG.

I actually don't care about it but hey if others want to celebrate so be it... I think it's much more romantic to be surprised by a man and not on a "special" holiday and would prefer gifts other than chocolate and flowers, even breakfast in bed would be better than that. I don't get it either.

My wife and I don't give gifts on birthdays or Christmas or any other holiday. If we want something, we get it. If it's expensive, we do research and compromise and discuss and get the best thing for the buck, or decide to wait. When these 'special' days come around, it's enough to express our love because we know it's not about acquiring more 'things'.

I dont know how many people will like having heartbreaks as Valentine gifts...
Must you show love & care at a designated day? What will happen to your relationship if there were no Valentines?

I actually have to agree with you. I like to be SURPRISED with flowers and candy any day of the year!

On Valentine's Day, gifts are expected, and sometimes women are dissapointed because they expect to much, and don't get enough.

I understand what you are saying but look at it this way, Not every man (or woman) takes the time to show their significant other how much they are appreciated. I always give my husband tokens of my affection throughout the year but I enjoy making it extra special on Valentine's Day.
