He was very shy when I first met him and when we talk we can talk for awhile. I have caught him looking at me several times and sometimes when I cacth him he looks away and others he keeps eye contact from across the room but doesnt say anything. Often he will walk past me and say nothing. He teases me playfully and remembers little things I say. I just dont understand him not speaking to me sometimes and yes he is definately single. Is he scared. I am 20 and he is 18, by the way?-

if he is shy then i understand them totally. he probley at times dosn't know what to say. i am sure he is intreasted in you but is having a hard time showing it always want to be around you and maby smiles to you every now and then. if you want to know how he trully feels you are going to have to have a talk with him. it's the only way to know. take it from me i am as shy as it get's and have been there.

You say that you know he's shy, and to him you're the older woman, and maybe unattainable in his mind. He's flirting with you, that should be all the impetus you need to take the lead, which may be what he's waiting for. If you're interested, you think he's interested, and you know he's shy, then it seems logical that you should make a small first step. Ask if he wants to catch lunch with you, that's safe and if he goes with you and you feel like it's more friendly than romantic, you haven't lost anything. Give it a shot, show your interest in him and react accordingly.

Good luck!!

Hi Lynn,

A lot of times guys make a big deal about age differences, but it doesnt matter if the chemistry is right. I don't think he will ask you out, he might be a little shy and worried about rejection. Maybe you should ask him out (not on a date) but for coffee or something outside of your work or study place. Maybe he will ease up a bit. See how it goes from there.

Good luck my friend.

Well seems like he may be shy. Or maybe even intimidated by the fact that your older and he thinks that age difference might make you out of his league. Make him feel comfortable around you let him know your both on the same page.
