Keep her out of the crate and maybe try training her to use puppy pads and if you're worried about her going all through the house/apt. maybe even trying gates to block certain entrances so she just stays where her pads are

I have had toy poodles and now have a sweet Maltese. I have never ever put one puppy in a crate. I think it is an injustice for the animal, when we as adults could not go all day and urinate. I find when you a puppy between 8-12 weeks old at the latest, it is very easy to train them on the puppy pads now available, however I used newspaper. Shorty they will get used to wear they go and you can confine them when you are away with a safety gate or in a small room like the utility room. They will soon learn when you are home have the pad by the back door, etc. and in no time they will let you know when they need to go out. As they grow older they are able to contain themselves for longer periods of time. Just thing how you would fill in a crate for long hours at a time? They cannot do it. Please try this and let the little one earn your trust and allow them to mature a little. They are just like little children. I hope this helps. It really is the truth. They are much smarter than we can know.

a 9 month old puppy should be able to stay in her crate for 8 hours without peeing. you need to adjust the crate so that she only has enough room to lie down as dogs will not sleep where they pee. if the crate is larger than this they will use one end to pee and the other to sleep. be sure to clean the crate well to eliminate all urine smells and start over. alot of crates have the adjustable panel in it just for this reason. be sure to let her potty before placing her in her crate. my dogs get a treat when they go into their crate. i do not feed or water them in the crate as this just urges them to use the restroom.

Is the crate too big for the puppy.Take the puppy out to potty before you put it in the crate. They need to be able feel secure in the crate. The puppy is old enough to go about 5 hours without pottying, but no longer.Make sure that he pottys just before you crate him.Be Patient ....

Feed your puppy in the cage...even if you do it with the door open...puppies will rarely eliminate where they feed. Truthfully, it sounds as if she knows it's OK to eliminate in her crate. Is she being left for too long? If this is a female dog, her ability to hold it all day is not developed. I would do MORE potty breaks and feeding all treats and meals in the cage (obviously, clean up all accidents first) Do NOT punish your dog...this is most likely your fault (barring any medical conditions). (I'm not trying to be mean, it's just that most of our pets behaviours are our responsibility). Good Luck!!

how long does your puppy stay in there? maybe your puppy can't hold it for that long. Also did you start crate training not too long ago? maybe your puppy's tolerance to hold in is not that good yet.
Try to decorate his crate with blankets and pillows. Also you can leave food in there. If your puppy feels like it's her house she will probably hold it longer. Also try to let her sleep in her crate at night
good luck

everyone above is correct. get a smaller crate, let the puppy out before you place them in the crate and if that still happens, you may want to take her to the vet to make sure she doesnt have any infections.

Remember too much time in a crate is not good for any dog. If you can't be home, hire a dog sitter to come once or twice a day to take your dog for a walk and urinate outside while you are gone so your dog will develop good urinating habits. This will also allow you dogs bladder to develop properly while it is growing up. Good Luck.

take your dog out to go pee before putting them back into the crate. Let them know that they pee outside, and don't feed or water in the crate. Also if the crate is to big they will pee and poo where they sleep.

I agree with using a small crate. If there's just enough room for the puppy to pee/poop in the corner, they'll do that.
