Sounds like your doctor is pretty incompetent.
I have a similar problem and I take Zantac tablets twice a day. Clears it right up.
Run a search for Zantac on google and take that to your doctor. I think you may need a prescription as the over the counter stuff is not very strong.

Yes, it is called Acid Reflux by doctors, but it is called Crap Diet by everyone else. Forget about taking anti-acid pills, you are just doing what all Western doctors do, treating the symptoms and not the cause. The cause is a bad diet; that is, what you are putting in your mouth and swallowing. That's the answer. You eat too many acid forming foods (or non-foods as is usually the case); nothing complex about that. What you need is balance. Less meat, dairy, junk food, processed foods, and so forth, and more whole grains, fresh vegetables, beans, legumes, and so forth. It will disappear immediately with an improved diet.

Modify your diet. Drink coffee? don't. Eat spicy food? don't Your body is the one that is telling you it is not happy with what you are consuming.
Also, sounds like you lay on your back - you snore. That is the raw throat. It can also be the reason for heartburn. I had, and cured by gut sleeping to kill the snoring. Cut coffee down to 1 cup from 8 and changed brands, also cut out peanut butter and strawberry jam. Got off my duff and did more walking and standing activities.
It takes a while of figuring out which and what is causing the individual problem.
This is a "self experimentation thing" to figure out what does help.
I mean - I had PB. n jam sandwiches + coffee regularily for years w/o a problem.

I would see another doctor. Acid heartburn can be caused by too little stomach acid so you could check to see ifyou have enough. Try taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with your main meal. If you get warmth, a burning sensation or discomfort then you have sufficient acid. If you don't get any sensation, double the dose the following day, if still nothing you might benefit from supplementing with digestive enzymes.
There are however lots of conditions that would cause your symptoms so I would try another GP.

You could have a condition known as Acid Reflux. It's a common ailment so don't be alarmed. It can be controlled with medicine but you should see a Gastroentomologist to have it diagnosed. You can take an over the counter drug - Prilosec and it can help short term.

You need to stop eating greasy and sugary foods, sugar turns acidy which is causing this problem. Try half a teaspoon of bicarbonated soda in a little water, does the trick for me.

well there is Zantac, that worked for my guy, ask your doctor if you can start taking it. There is a low doseage over the counter zantac on the shelf but sometimes you need a bit more when your chronic like that.
