To put it simply, the similarities far out weighed the minor differences.

I have often wondered if there were any differences before organized religion got control of Jesus' teachings and corrected them.

Jesus Christ looks at life from God's perspective, for HE is God.
siddhartha looked at life from a human perspective for he was human, not God.
