My dentist says he doesn't recommend periodontists who are associated with Monarch. The only periodontist which is in my MetLife dental network is with Monarch Dental.

Like Little Mermaid said, it's the quality of care that you will receive at this so called "specialty practice." What's the point of going and spending a "little money", when the inevitable tooth loss is going to happen without the appropriate care. Your just prolonging the situation which might have been corrected helping you keep your teeth, with the proper care from an experienced and reputable periodontist. I hope you will listen to your dentist and go elsewhere. You should probably discuss, and make a complaint to your insurance carrier. After so many complaints from patients and especially from other dentist, they may drop them from the network. Good luck and perio disease can be corrected if it's detected and appropriately treated in the early stages.

OH gosh do I really want to get into CHAIN DENTIST bashing?

Ok here is why. I used to work for one of those chain offices, and trust me THEY CUT CORNERS. I mean major corner cutting. Your care will not be that great. They pride themselves on being the cheapest place in town, or the home of the $29.00 NEW PATIENT EXAM AND CLEANING. That is like going to the Dollar Store and expecting Macy's quality. You aren't going to get it.

Most private practice dentists don't have much respect or faith in the chain dentists. And since I worked for one of those places for about 3 1/2 years, I have seen the quality of work that comes out of those places and it is not even close to what you could get from a private practice.

Sorry hun, but your dentist is right, and is looking out for your best interest. Heck, come to my office.
