Why do you want to fatten her up? Chronic emaciation? Try out the raw diet if you can, its very healthy.

I think only a vet can give you advice about this since we're looking at a pure breed who can, without the correct nutrition, become overweight quite quickly.
The British Bulldog can be rather lazy and due to respiratory problems doesn't take well to too much over exertion. I imagine the American Bulldog might be similar, though I'm not a breed expert.
Isn't it better to own a young dog who is rather on the lean side, rather than an older one suffering from various ailments because the owner can't get the weight off.
Please do discuss this with your vet.
In the meantime, check out www.drweil.com as there's a complete section on pets and pet care, promoting a natural way of ensuring a healthy pet, which might prove helpful to you at this stage.
Oh, and one last thought. If your dog is eating for America and still not putting on weight, he/she might need worming.
Good luck.

I was advised that dry food is better because it tends to clean their breath and teeth. The canned wet food can contain a lot of fat which isn't good for the dog. I would recommend just feeding the dog a little bit more than usual, but make sure you are feeding the dog the reccommended amount according to the lable on the back of the food bag

I feed my dogs on a good quality dry food and chicken.
If you want to fatten your dog up the best way to do it, is to give lots of little meals through out the day, for instance 5 small meals through the day, scrambled eggs for breakfast etc.
It is important to still feed your dog healthy food that is not to high in fat as this can cause problems even for underweight dogs.
If you ask your vet also, as there are lots of dry foods programmes which are actually designed to build up a dogs weight.
Hope this is a help.

A good balanced dry food should do the trick and a good worming programme.
Try Eukanuba, Autarky or Pedigry Juniour complete.
I've got English Bull Terriers and they are on the Pedigry complete with tripe mixed in thats good for fattening them up. If she doesn't seem to put weight on then get her checked by the vet she could have an underlying problem like ear mites!! My brothers GSD had ear mites and he has now put loads of weight on and really healthy but he was very poor to start with to the extremes that he had the RSPCA called on him, we never thought ear mites could cause such a problem.
My bully's have been on nearly every type of food because they have delicate guts but the Pedigry seems to be ok with the tripe. But wean her gradually or she'll get dodgy guts and poo fountain is not what you want trust me.
Dry food is much better for them than wet it helps to keep ththeir digestive system steady and settled and their teeth stay lovely and clean because the biscuits are abrasive.

Wet food is generally MUCH higher in fat content, but WHY would you want to do that...Excess weight is horrible for bulldogs, they are notoriously heavy to begin with and their joints pay the price. Please consult your vet and keep your dog at a healthy weight. Bulldogs also should not be overweight as it puts added stress on their already compromised respiratory system.
Please tell me you're not just aiming for a larger dog...stick with a HIGH quality pet food....not grocery store bought...consult your vet.

Nutro Natural Choice High Energy formula is really high in protein and fat. It's a premium dog food w/ no by products or corn so it would do great.
Make sure to switch her over slowly so you don't upset her stomach.
Wet food isn't a good idea because it get stuck in the teeth and causes rot and decay. Stick to dry for healthy teeth which will mean a healthy heart!
Good Luck

What I would do is get your dog a dogfood that has certin stuff in it (check the diet dog foods and make sure that it does have the same stufff in it as the regular dog food). Also look at the dr.foster and smith website and they have some wonderful products I give my dogs lots of there stuff.

My collie was positivly emaciated at that age, no matter how much food we gave her. I started using a food designed for active dogs, or a working dog mix. These have higher calorie and energy levels in them as they are designed for working dogs. One of those will help to get a bit of weight on your dog but don't let her get fat - it's not healthy. They are better being skinny than fat.
