Have you seen a professional? That would be my first advice...

There are many people that have expirienced the above(depresonalisation and derealization). It can happen once (derealization) or more frequently.... and can be a sign of severe mental illness (don't want to frighten you) but the sooneer you ask for help the sooner will you get better and the longer you wait the harder it'll be... There are good ways for coping with it though.

Good luck!

Sounds like depression. Go see a doctor, do not be afraid to try anti-depressant drugs, they can work wonders. You shouldn't have to live your life this way. There is help. I am not a doctor. I have felt depressed before and Zoloft made me feel like a kid again. I don't take it now and I beleive I am ok. I feel that a lot of good hard exercise 3 times a week has helped me enough where I don't have to take medicine. That is one way to do it but it may take a while. You have to be consistant for 6 months to a year. Also there has been some research on processed foods causing depression, high blood pressure and diabetes. A high sugar diet can cause depression. Try removing all sugar especially high fuctose corn syrup (sodas) from your diet. Take a multi-vitamin. Make sure you get some Vitamin D either through a vitamin or exposure to sunlight (better). That's right go sit in the sun with a tank top and shorts for about 10 or 15 minutes. You might be surprized at the mood change. February sucks every year doesn't it? Lack of vitamin D from sunlight is causing it. But so discuss symptoms with a doctor, if you want to get better. You may need a ceritonin boost in your body chemistry. Good luck, you're not alone!

I first started to experience this when i was at school.
It did scare me and i found that i could pull myself back if i tried but it would come over me again and again and i felt like i was inbetween two worlds in a way. On the outside looking in kind of thing.

I have now suffered with depression and anxiety for 11 years and had some very dodgy times before that.

After telling a doctor in the mental health area about these feelings that i have had (same as yours) - i was told it is triggered by stress.

Looking back at when it started - it was when my parents were getting divorced but i did not connect that with my feelings at the time (maybe as i was only a kid).

I found myself going through it again a couple of years ago - then i had a breakdown.

You must tell your doctor. This is your body trying to tell you something is wrong. I ignored it and paid the price - i wish someone had recognised it - it is very very common and you are not mad or bad.

I have since had a few more of these experiences and i felt a little panicky when they first started but i calmed myself down and found i could pull myself back again.

The best thing to do is keep yourself busy with things like exercise, walking, reading and talking. It can still happen while you are doing these things but the seratonin you are releasing by the exercise will help (feel good chemical) also the relaxing feeling you get when youve exercised hard will help you relax your body and mind. If you cannot sleep well at night this will increase the feeling.

I could go on and on about this as i trully know how you feel as do many many people under stress, battling with depression, etc. There are many websites where you can talk to other people going through the same things as you. You can find them on the search engines (google etc) type in mental health chat - but anyway, first and very very urgently please go see your gp before or in case it escalates and i can tell you from my experience and others who i have talked to it gets worse if you dont treat it.

I am sorry if i worry you in any way, you need to face the facts though, hard as that is when you feel as you do, but i think deep down you already know this.

Love sent to you and take good care of your self x

You might have serious problems, like Schizophrenia, which starts to appear in people about 18 years old.

But, all of us have gone through these feelings, some of it is the culture we live in, some of it is just being an adolescent or young adult, some of it is part of normal life and our expectations of it.

EVERYBODY feels weird stuff from time to time, but you can improve your coping skills.
1. Stop using mood-enhancing chemicals of any kind--nicotine, alcohol, any other drugs.
2. Look honestly and sensibly at your life so far--are there major family issues, stresses, gaps, problems, crises, abnormal situations that you have ignored, hidden, or forgotten, trying to survive your childhood and seem "normal"? The stress of these childhood events will continue to affect your adult life until you get therapy and deal with them.
3. Feeling stressed>>>get out into the natural world, a walk along a river, on a popular jogging trail, the local beach, a park, anywhere that you can see nature around you and relax and get back to the deepest reality, the God-made Universe. Let the natural world "center" you. You are part of it.

I am currently in this situation and fighting my way out of it. You are not mad this is a side effect of depression/anxiety and it will pass in time. You need to reengage yourself with life as much possible...keep busy..exercise or just walk and try to not pay it attention and it will subside. Mine is a lot better than it was and I have patches of feeling "normal" again. Hang in there you will be ok it just takes time and patience. Take care.

It sounds as though you are disassociating yrself emotionally, which can stem from a variety of possible causes. It also sounds as though you may have been traumatised recently/in past? Please seek professional help and soon...take care and hope you are not on yr own as this could magnify your symptoms significantly...
