According to the surveys, 33%-44% of the British are atheist, agnostic or non-believers (ie. they state they don't believe in god(s) but don't class themselves as atheists or agnostics). So therefore, 56%-77% believe in god(s).
The UK is a weird case though as 10% of the population are regular church goers (ie. practicing their religion) but the majority will list CofE as their religion when asked. Of those, it's hard to say how many actually believe.

I'd have to say 90 percent of the English people. The thing is that most people believe in him but most want to live for themselves and not for God.

According to a poll in 1991, only 23.8% of people in Great Britain believed in God. Even fewer believed in the Bible, Satan , or the Devil. (Less than 15% on each question.) This is despite the fact that most children in Great Britain attend church-led schools, and most people (about 55%) believe religion should be taught in school. http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_comp.htm, However, a 2004 poll showed that only 40% self-identified as atheists. Of course, most people who self-identify as "Christian" in any Western country tend to answer, "I don't know" when asked "What do you really believe?"

Believe in God probably a sizeable minority but religious practice in England has dwindled and only about 10% of people regularly attend church. It's a secular society and there's no point believers claiming otherwise. A church in my town is in the process of being converted into a bar and restaurant and thirty years ago that would have caused uproar but now there wasn't a murmur of protest.

What absolute rubbish I have read here. I am English and I am resident in England. God is nothing over here. The majority of us are Atheists.
P.S. polls and stats don't mean anything and are not as simple as that. people can always manipulate them to show whatever they want.
E.G. do you mean a personal God or Spinoza's God

Your guess is as good as mine. but from my own cirle of friends and family. None of us. I think people start believing in god as they get older because they don't want to face the prospect of nothing after life. Although I do keep an open mind because you can't prove either way.

Well THIS percent certainly doesn't, but unfortunately over half our population appears to be deluded. PS I think the best answer points should go to Jim E!
