Pit Bull is a term used to describe several breeds of dogs with similar physical characteristics. The American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier commonly fall under the category of "pit bull." There are several other breeds that can fall under the category of pit bull, including: the Argentine Dogo, the English Bull Terrier, the American Bulldog, and the Perro de Presa Canario. These breeds are usually not included by breed name in any Breed Specific Legislation but are usually included because of a broad definition and confusion as to what a pit bull actually is. All of these breeds as well as many others (including Great Danes, Newfoundlands and Rottweilers) are members of the Molosser family of dog breeds.

I have never been a mother or a Pit Bull owner; but I do know that a Pit Bull who bites or behaves in a manner that can be construed as aggressive is going to be dealt with more severity from public authorities than might a Cocker Spaniel or Miniature Schnauzer. Please get a handle on the situation and learn to control your puppy. If you haven't taken him to Obedience Class, start now; or better yet, go to a trainer who has experience with Pit Bulls. You can probably teach him to go "Down" even now, with treats; and when he starts snapping or barking at you, make him do a Down; that would be a good start. If your dog is this protective with you when you try to pick up your own toddler, how will he react when other children visit and play with your little boy? Think about that. See a professional, or put a muzzle on the poor dog all the time; which would be a sad life for the dog...

Most came from back east (blues almost black) used as boar hunters. The lines are so crossed is hard to tell, brindles, blues, reds, the greys are considered a blue.

These are just street terms. They are bred in these lines by fighters and gangsters. The real apbt's bred by reputable breeders don't have these stupid "bloodlines". Bad breeders just make up names like red-nose to make a profit.
