Books are just for reading...you must commit to making a change....says one everweight gal to another! I have been successful on weight watchers and believe it to be a very good program. If you can't join a group, try it online or check one of their books out from the library. Maybe you could have a contest in your family to come up with the 'most flavorable', 'most portable' (for picnics), best complete day plan....etc. I find that it is easier if the whole family gets involved and it is not just your responsibility. Also, many insurance plans will discount or give you free dietition evaluations. Also for excercise, you don't need to spend a lot of money on gyms to start...use your feet and walk. See link below for program recommended to me.. I bought a video but haven's started yet. (Hence my first sentence) GOOD LUCK!

Make sure you don't eat too many calories. read nutrition facts on whatever you eat. When losing weight try not to go over 1500 calories a day and exercise. Even going on a nature walk for about an hour a day will help.

you can go and see the dietician at the hospital for free and she can help you with a diet plan..also the new canadian foodguide is out and they have changed things radically so we all have to eat different now... remember when a piece of meat fit in your palm? now a piece of meat is 1/2 that size and the majority of the diet is made up of fruit and vegs and grains...
look it up and see .. I am sure eating like that will help you

My mother-in-law went on the diet that they advertise on TV, nutri-system, she lost 100lbs in four months, they mail you the food and she says that it more than you can possibly eat. It works on the glycemic index. After four months of that, she had learned to eat properly, and now cooks according to what she has learned. I also saw a dietitian on TV, he said that if you eat pineapple after your meal, that it breaks down the fat so that it doesn't stay in your digestive tract long.
