Straight smooth hair is in style right now. I have a full fluffy, curly head of hair too. and people have always made rude comments about it. There have even been times when I wished my hair was just normal and straight. but then I wet it down, throw some hair gel in it, to make it shiney and the curls not frizzy, and then it looks really nice. As you get older , people won't give you a hard time about it. I'd juyst ignore them. Curly hair is beautiful, I have grown to love mine, and my husband loves it too.
Hang in there , sometimes people are just plain mean for no good reason.

I can sympathize with you because I too have thick curly hair that doesn't straighten well and have been nicknamed anything and everything (from marshmellow head to frizzy poof). Here are a few quick fixes and anything else I can think of to help another curly haired girl in need...
- If you deep condition your hair once or twice a week it will help control the frizz and make it lie flatter.
- Try washing your hair the night before and letting it dry naturally overnight in a microfiber towel; this way your hair will not have as much "hair dryer/ blow dryer" damage and will be less poofy.
- Leave in conditioner, mousse, curl definer, and gel are my best friend (in that order while my hair is still wet after combing it)
- Always use a pick when your hair is dry and NEVER a brush... it will only make you frizzier and poofier!!
- At your next hair appointment, ask your stylist if they are layering your hair alittle so you don't have the triangle poofed hair look while it is down and dry... if they say no, ask them for some very subtle layers~ your hair will lay flatter to your head.
- The longer your hair is the less of a curl you will have because you have thick hair it will weigh down the curls... obviously this is a long term option.
and last but not least...
- Remeber that you are beautiful and despite what other people say and think, they are most likely jealous of your unique locks! Straight hair will never hold a curl that looks as natural as curly hair! It is always tough when others are making fun of something you can't change, but my best advice would be to ignore them and not let them know it bothers you. Infact, laugh with them... it will surprise them and make them second guess the name calling because the reaction they want is a negative one
Hopefully I was helpful, good luck!

Well, my first thought was that these boys like you. But maybe it is just because U are different. Some people get uptight when something or someone is out of the ordinary or different. I am so very glad to hear that U love the way U look. I live in America and the people are so shallow here about looks. A lot of girls go around changing the way they look to please other people. There is also the chance of jealousy ~ U have beautiful hair and are confident about that fact. That can sometimes make people uneasy, which is a sign of their own insecurities. Keep having that self esteem, it will take U far. Ignore the "idiots", they know not what they do. If someone can call U a name it will in essence, make them feel better about themselves. Messed up but, there is truth in it. good luck and God Bless

If you love your curls, you should wear your hair curly! You'll save so much time and money. In the meantime, if you are in a place where you just can't be accepted because of how you look, concentrate on your interests, skills, classes, and things like that. When you're older, you'll be very interesting and skilled AND get noticed, while everyone who is getting dates now will be old, boring, and jealous of you.
Of course, the better condition and style your hair has, the better. You can just type curly hair in Yahoo's search and find all kinds of sites with good advice for people with curly hair.

I bet you are one of the cutest things in school! What do you think about your hair? If you feel the way you feel because of the, maybe first, you should get more self-esteem. They have tortured you. I think curly hair is a beautiful creation and if i were a man looking for a female I would certainly let her know that she is beautiful and I know you are too. Keep your head up. Only you know how beautiful you are.
Don't change yur appearance because somebody talking about you. That will lower your self- esteem big time. Keep doing what you do. I know it is hard but if you can't go thru wit it then I understand but TRY!!!!! You are beautiful

they make fun of you cause you look different than the norm. no problem in looking different but if it bothers you to much try a shorter hair cut to lessen the amount of curl. I to have natural curly hair and a shorter hair style makes the curl seem much less.

They are a bunch of haters. I was ten when this lady begged my mother to tell her what she did with my hair. My mom told her that all I did was wash the mud out.
I just read the whole question. Asians here in the U.S. all get perms so just wait as they get older they will all do everything they can to get there hair like yours.

Where I'm from, (Canada) I've noticed guys love curls! Maybe everyone is fasinated by you, because you look different. If things don't improve come to Canada, and you'll have to beat the boy off with a stick!

I heard the phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," or something similuar to that, but since there are kids teasing you, they probably never met anyone with curly hair. Just try to ignore them no matter how long this lasts.

I'd say stop making people get to you. If you are happy with your hair, that's all that matters. If its not your hair, it will be something else. Stop stressing over the little things in Your life and concentrate on more important things for you future. I wished all my life I had curly hair.
