Its before six months of age not at six months of age.
I get them done at 6-8 weeks and they never know its done. The biggest problem with the prepubescent spay and neuters is that you would prefer your pup have all the shots before being hospitalized. Sick dogs go to the vet and you don't want yours to catch anything.
Rabies can usually be given around 4 months on the last set of DHLPP. I would spay her when you get the last round of shots. I usually request they do the rabies shot before the wake up from the anesthesia.

Our vet recommends spaying at 4 months of age. He can do the surgery later than that, but not before.

Generally before they are 6 months old but most importantly - before they go into heat for the first time.
The most important thing to ignore most of what you read here and ask your vet and do what he or she tells you . They are the one's with the veterinary degree not us. Plus, they know YOUR dog and we only know what you are asking.
Talk to your vet and do what they tell you.

About a year, but no earlier than 6 months. Some vets will do it really early (like 2 months), but this is too young. A pup needs to grow and needs to be strong enough to handle such a major operation.

Animals can be spayed anytime after they reach 2 pounds. Most vets wait 14 weeks, but some do sooner or later. 14 weeks is good if your vet will do it.

between 4 to 6 months of age. You definitely want to do it before her first heat cycle....which will probably be at around 6 months. if you don't, then you may have to deal with the problem of a young under-developed dog having pups.

At 6 months before her first heat cycle.
Discuss options with your vet and schedule the procedure now.
