Hi, I am getting married, (not for the first time!), and I found a sample invitation on the web...It made it sound like the kids of the bride were hosting it..(I have a 13 and 10 year old)..Started out saying something about "our mom is marrying the man that makes her eyes light up and who loves her and us all very much" or something like that...then it goes on to state the details of the wedding..informal invite..but now that I need it, I can't find it anywhere!! Can anyone help me out??

Please remind yourself that it's not an itemization of expenses. It's an invitation. It is true that only the bride, groom, and any host(s) are the people whose names belong on an invitation. However: Parents who are not able to pay any wedding expenses MAY still be considered part of the hosting "team" if they take on some other hosting duty. For situations when it's important not to leave the name of one parent out of 4 off of the invitation (as that would single the person out and look suspicious as if there were some sort of rift), putting even the "non-paying parent" on the hosting team anyway is usaully a smart move. The order of names goes: bride's parents first, and moms first-- regardless of who pays how much, this is ALWAYS the proper order. And sharing a line of text means those two people are currently married to each other. If you end up wanting to include all parents' names, your wording would be: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bridesparents Ms. Ann Groomsmom (or whatever she prefers to be called) Mr. Robert Groomsfather request the pleasure of your company... etc or, you could simply go with the "Together with their parents" route: Bride and Groom together with their parents request the pleasure of your company... etc... I can't stress enough how useful a good reliable etiquette book is to have on hand, when planning your wedding-- it is not wise to rely on online advice, or magazine articles, as there are so many serious errors out there floating around as "advice" and you don't want to make a silly mistake on this type of thing.

Good job Pink, I used this in my wedding 4 years ago. I had 3 children from my previous marriage and people loved the invite. It goes over really well!
