If you filed by mail and asked the IRS to send you a check, the refunds generally take between 4-6 weeks. If you used direct deposit, you'll probably shave at least a week off of that number. If you e-filed, you may see the refund in as soon as two weeks.

Don't ask for a check. Use the direct-deposit option. That will process extremely quickly. Often within a couple of weeks of filing.

Usually it's 4-6 weeks if you efiled and 6-8 weeks if you mailed your return.

Once the IRS accepts your return you can check the status of your refund by going to www.irs.gov and clicking where is my refund, put in all the info it asks for and it will give you an estimated date.

If you had your taxes done someplace where your return is filed electronically, it can take as little as five days- this, at least, has been our past experience, and that is also using direct deposit. If you sent it snail mail, I'd plan on a least a couple of weeks.
