That salvation is not about the hereafter, but about here and now, and what we do with this life to make it better for everyone?

Indeed it could be. But such a proposition is an invitation to be slandered, abused, and condemned by the followers of Paul - a group which includes our Evangelical and fundamentalist friends. You will hear the shrill: "Acts will not get you into heaven, only faith!" (By which criteria Nazis who only repented on their deathbeds will sit with the Lord and muse on the horrible fate of hell for all those they gassed who did not "accept Christ.")

So let's you and I do what's right by our fellow creatures and hope the "righteous" at least keep up their charitable contributions.

Salvation is both. Here and after. It is truly a heaven in the earth when we try to make this place better for one and another.

I want to be with God after this life, but I am not doing good deeds for that, it is very natural for me make life better for everyone. I have learned that giving is receiving. I forget my own problems when I am focusing on helping others. : )

You are partially correct. The rewards of salvation come in the hereafter. But the rewards come based on the here and now of the things you choose to do.

For sure, you reep what you sow in this life. You make out of this life what you want to. Even if you don't want to believe in Jesus and the hereafter, if you follow the instructions given in the Bible, you will sow well and reep good results; "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". But the greatest commandment is: "Have no other gods before me".

Yes, that is possible, but still this life is temporary and full of miseries, is not possible to get rid of old, age, disease and death.
Salvation, would means, that we go beyond from these bodies and situate ourselves in the spiritual platform, then we will be aloof from the miseries, even still living in these bodies. Because we are in the bodily platform, On the basis of this misconception, one increases life's illusions and thinks in terms of "I and mine", and that create selfishness. In the spiritual platform the is not such a thing, then would better life for everyone.

Salvation hasn't come to man yet, Though I agree with part of your question in a way. If your on that road to salvation (doing the things that please God), then your OK to receive salvation, although if you turn away from the truth, then U know what to expect.

It would be nice if this was an accepted truth, unfortunately many fundamentalists of all creeds believe that creating Hell on Earth for other people is the only way to get into Heaven.

Of course it is. That's the problem with religions. They focus on what's After life. Which is most obviously nothing.

I don't know about the afterlife, but Suffering is here and now. The Buddha said so.
