Pat him on the stomach and say "I'd love to go, but I'm afraid there wouldn't be any room for me."

He'll get the hint.

Be honest, tell him that because he is morbidly obese, you are far to shallow of a person, to enjoy being seen in public with him, because, after all, someone might think that the two of you might be a couple.

If you don't want to go, simply say you're unable to go and thank him for the invitation. Whether he's morbidly obese or not, he'll appreciate an honest response.

Tell him that your work/school schedule isn't going to permit you to go. But you should still talk to him and find out what his intentions are for the two of you. He may only think of you as a best friend and you might think it's more or vice versa. Either way, if you don't want to date him you should let him know your not interested. Hopefully his size is the only thing driving your decisions.

To be honest, that sounds shallow however.. the best policy is honesty. Be kind and gentle but firm. Tell him you are not interested in him in that way but that he is a great guy. I am sure he has heard it before. If you pussyfoot around though alot of guys will still pressure you because they either don't get the hint or they ignore it.

If you feel he will take it bad if you tell him straight out you don't want to go, then there is no "easy." You should still tell him straight out, though. If he asks you why just say you don't want a relationship right now or whatever. If he pushes, you can get angry and say look, I just don't want to go, stop pushing. Beyond that, maybe he will just take it as easy as you hoped for.

All you can do is be nice and say no thank you. How he takes it is only up to him. Hopefully, if he is a nice guy, he will take it okay but you really aren't responsible for his feelings if you are NICE about it.

Tell him that the only way you would go with him is if Hell froze over, or if you could use him as a flotation device.
