Ok, I'm adopting a baby greenwing macaw. The shop owner keeps saying that he is a GREAT greenwing macaw. Which is very rare compared to your standard greenwing macaw. I've searched and searched for GREAT greenwing macaws. But, I can't find any information on them. also, the blue and gold macaws that he has he claims are rare Golliath blue and golds. Again, I searched and searched for golliath blue and golds and when I google it only his shop comes up. so, is there a such thing as a great greenwing macaw and a golliath blue and gold macaw. He says the difference is the size. that they will grow 2-3 inches bigger and are rare.

There is no such thing except some stores call their birds by these names to inflate the prices.
I own a pet store and breed allsorts of birds and hand rear them for my store.

Their is no such thing as a Great Greenwing Macaw. Their is only just Greenwing Macaws. He is trying to pull the wool over you. It is best to never buy from a Pet Shop or Store. You are better off in buying one from a breeder that breeds Greenwing Macaws. It sure would be a lot cheaper and at least you would know where the bird came from.

I surely have had my Blue and gold Macaw because he became 4and a million/2 months old. he's now 2 and a million/2 years old. he's an exceptionally loving and sweet fowl yet i do not imagine Macaws may make spectacular birds for kids. they could get very possessive and territorial. And his large beak may nicely be very risky. If I had young children residing in my abode i'd imagine two times about a fowl of this length inspite of the actual shown actuality that they are between the friendliest large birds. attempt a cockatiel for a first fowl. they are extra effective for young children. P.S As for good with different animals, not an outstanding concept except very very will experienced. And nevertheless that is not a given.

We own a very large Greenwing Macaw. He is just that. A Greenwing Macaw. We also have a very small Blue and Gold Macaw. She is smaller than average. Birds are like people. They come in lots of sizes. Please, please before buying a large macaw, consider your age and how long a macaw will live. We love our birds but fear that they will outlive us and not be treated as well as we would like once we are gone.

you're smart to research before just taking the shop owners word for it. if there were more potential bird owners like you in the world, there would be a whole lot less unwanted birds.

sounds like the shopkeeper is trying to pull a fast one on you. i say stay away at all costs. what he's probably doing is marketing a pair that throws larger chicks as a completely different mutation. it's like when a used car dealer calls a car 'vintage' but it's actually just a 20 year old junker.

i say find a reputable home breeder who can be honest with you and help you find the perfect birdie for your lifestyle.

make sure you get Avian papers on this bird, and if you are buying this bird I would have a warranty with it.
