Protect the thin ozone layer in the atmosphere. This can be done by doing away with air pollutants that deplete ozone. By the way Montreal Protocol shows the way to the entire world.

Planting more trees doesn't affect the amount of UV that gets to the earth's surface. The hole in the ozone layer is decreasing rapidly and we don't live at the south pole so that really doesn't matter. realistically, there's very little we can do except to do what we are doing - minimizing and outlawing the use of CFC's.
