I use to charge 125 per child a week Monday through Friday and kept two babies! That is about average daycare cost in the south and moms would rather pay a stay at home mom alot of times than a daycare! Ilive in Louisiana now and it is even higher, but when I use to keep kids this was average cost for Fayettville, AR!!!!

My daughter has been in daycare since she was 4 months old. I was paying 188.00 a week for infant care, then it dropped to 168.00 a week for toddler 1. She'll be 2 next month and the rate will drop to 158.00 a week. And this was the cheapest daycare facility I could find in Phoenix. I have seen some that charge up to 210.00 a week for two year old care.

I pay $130/week for in home licensed daycare for my 17 month old. Once she turns 3 though, it goes down to $100/week. That includes all food but I pay regardless of whether my daughter misses a day or not. We live in the Twin Cities.

Well, at the day care we used that was closer to my office we paid $145/week plus a $5 monthly classroom fee and $60 reg fee annualy. That was in the infant/toddler room. At the day care we moved to in Jan that is 12 minutes from our house and he is grouped as a toddler we pay $400 per month due by the 5th of the month. We pay a $40 reg fee annually. We also take in items if needed (like last week in the class notes all parents got a note asking if they could donate tissues for the classroom-we took in a 3 pack since my little guy is likely using more than anyone). We also gave the staff a gift card recently to help with cost for an up coming staff training that they attend each year. Not much, might get a tank of gas or lower the cost they pay on a hotel room but we wanted to show them we appreciate their efforts to stay up to date on training-it benefits my son after all.
Expect to pay much more in cities than rural areas-you have more demand and fewer open spots so they will cost more. And day care centers have higher costs (in VA the regs for building codes, staffing, etc prevent many centers from doing infant toddler care altogether). But I think price should be low on the checklist for a day care. You have to look at what they offer and if you will be okay with leaving your child in their care for large amounts of time. I was on the wait list for our current day care for a year before he was old enough and they had a space. They are worth every penny and then some-his teachers are great and he loves to go to "shcool". If that weren't the case, I would have trouble going to work. Oh-one more thing-depending on the age you may not be able to get part time care-demand is too high so they may not offer it. And we pack his lunch now, they provide snacks and juice. The previous day care didn't provide anything food wise.

The costs of day care are exorbitant. More than 10 hours a week away from mommy for a child under 3 is severely damaging to the child's intellect, emotional heatlh, social skills, and physical heatlh. Such separation causes detachment from mom - and attachment to mom is the foundation for being a caring person and having good self-esteem.

At a local daycare facility, I pay $34 a day if I take her there. (For toddler age - 2 1/2 yrs.) However, I pay my sitter considerably less.

$120-190 for licensed day care Mon-Friday full time. There is a difference between child care and babysitting. it is cheaper to get a babysitter but they wont be getting the most possible. day care they teach and your child learns, babysitters entertain the child while you are gone, most the time just watching tv and having pizza or something easy to make-not most nutritious.
