Im red and have died my hair all colours, be carefull what shade you have it too light and it will go ginger. You will still have the redness there in the colour, that wont go. Also if it is a very dark brown it will look awful when the roots frow through. I dyed my hair black once (stupidly) and had to cut my hair all off to strat again. If you want to get to a rich medium brown go to a hairdressers.
I know how it can be being a red head, I just dye my hair a real vibrant red to enhance the natural colour or a burgandy (its th goth in me!!)

If you've never had your hair dyed before I sure wouldn't do it at home, especially if you aren't certain of the color you want. In a salon your hairdresser can help you choose the shade that would work best with your complexion. Also, they will have a better idea of what certain colors will look like in the end given your natural hair color-you always have to take that into account. In the future, once you know what shade works best for you, you can usually do it at home pretty easily. It's really not difficult to do but, like I said, the first time I'd do to a salon.

Why do you want to dye your hair brown? I think red hair is lovely and makes you stand out in a crowd. I would say leave it as it is.

Personally I would never dye my hair at home. It's too iffy. You never know what the color will end up being. If you're comfortable, though, go for it. I'll bet you will look very nice with brown hair. Funny, I have brown hair and keep dying it red.

Yep. Just be sure not to go so dark, because most likely you are sort of pale, and that would be to harsh. Are you planning to keep it up? If so, don't forget your eyebrows! You might also want to play with your makeup a little afterwards as well.
Good Luck!

Why would you want to change your hair color? I am married to a wonderful man who has the most gorgeous color of red hair that I have ever seen! Redheads are beautiful. Please don't change. However, if you must, please seek the help of a professional stylist.
