Much needed question: What do Muslims think is the driving force behind Al-Qaeda?

Or any terrorist organization who claims to be working on Gods word in the Quran?

In my opinion.. a lot of Muslims (in countries with western occupation) are very much oppressed.. the Palestinians, Iraqis, Afghanis etc... and when Muslims who are not in these countries look at their brothers and sisters being slaughtered day in and day out.. they begin to believe that it is because they are *muslim that they are being targetted.. and its hard to believ that most of these people are not religious at all.. but the point is that it is very easy to build up hatred in a system or institutions.. these yound people are fed with so much negative aspects of the US and other Western governments by a few older and manipulative minds and their hearts are instilled with hatred. hatred for people that should even dare to deprive their kind (muslims) of any rights etc. they then take the Quraan or any other holy source and delude themselves to believe that it insights hatred and evil. afterall.. with the wrong intension already.. you can use any book to justify your actions whether it be from the bible, the torah or even shakespeare. most of these men are very young.. their minds having been filled with so mucch bias and hatred etc. im in no way defending them.. everyone should be openminded and not submit to brainwashing. i think that religion is such a powerful and passionate thing that i dno if this is for most people.. but it overcomes you.. moves you and i think thats basically why so many people use it as a front for their hatred. there have been so many groups.. not just Muslims... its arrising mostly from Muslims nowadays because of this feeling of being targetted... they possess so much hatred for people that oppress and slaughter their fellow brothers and sisters in the religion but go about defending them in a completly wrong way. they blame each and every citizen in these western countries... for supporting its government. although islam is completely and utterly againts the killing of women and children and eveyrthing else that theyr doing... it is crystal clear and yet they carry on...

Everyone wants the oil revenues. It is like a big company everyone is fighting to own. It makes you rich and to a poor country that is a big driving force.
They are not above using religon and making their people think it is all about religon.
Isn't that what the current administration in the USA has done?
When everyone knows it is all about the oil.
If human rights abuses where center most, then why has the worst genocide in the history of the world going on in durfur been over looked?

The driving force is the history of Islam. Muhammad set the example and these organizations are just following. People really need to look at the history of Islam. Arabs were peaceful until Muhammad came along. They looted, terrorized and brought war to village after village and then country after country for hundreds of years. It only stopped because of the Crusades. Now in modern times, any war that an Islamic country was involved in, they lost. Mostly to Israel. So they now resort to terror. The barbaric history of Islam is not due to American policy, that's just another excuse. It is all about spreading Islam, any way they can. Do not expect the truth from a Muslim. They are told it's ok to lie to infidels. That is what the world is to them. If you are a non-Muslim, you are an infidel that needs to convert or die. The fact that Muslims will protest, riot, burn and kill because of a cartoon of Muhammad or because of a speech by the Pope shows the true colors of their belief. There's over a billion Muslims and yet they will not peacefully protest against the evil in their religion. Their silence is deafening.

Because they are constantly being told it's Jihad and a one-way ticket to Heaven. Seriously, if people had one-way ticket to Heaven, they'll satisfy their lust and greed. If you had a one-way ticket to Heaven none of the sins matter, you're still going to Heaven.

Or so they think.

Anyway this is the driving force, they were promised Heaven even though it's really a lost cause.

Just wanted to note that not only are there Muslim terrorists, but also Buddhist ones (in Japan and Tibet), Hindu terrorists, Jewish terrorists and Christian people who use violence in the struggle against abortion. Violence and religion have become rather universally linked.

The driving force behind Al-Qaeda and other DEVIANT groups is simply Satan! The lack of knowledge of Islamic Law. Not any fool like Bin Laden can call for Jihad, only a RIGHTFUL LEADER, of a Muslim Country can do this. For instance if Joe in Kentucky declares War on Mexico, obviously it is not not a valid war. And even in a Declared War, Muslim soldiers are FORBIDDEN from killing civilians, women, and children. These people commit crimes, murdering innocent people, thinking they are doing good deeds. God will judge them for what they do. ALL Scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence have PROVED their Ideology is IMPERMISSIBLE. Also the Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him predicted 1400 years ago many sects will form, please check this hadith out

[006:159] Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him]) have no concern with them in the least. Their affair is only with God, Who then will tell them what they used to do.

(V.6:159) It is said that the Prophet [Peace Be Upon Him] recited this Verse and said: "These people are those who invent new things (Bid'ah) in religion and the followers of the vain desires of this Muslim nation, and their repentance will not be accepted by God." (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)
[It has been narrated in the Hadîth Books (At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Mâjah and Abu Dâwûd) that the Prophet [Peace Be Upon Him] said: "The Jews and the Christians will be divided into seventy-one or seventy-two religious sects and this nation will be divided into seventy-three religious sects, all in Hell, except one, and that one is: on which I and my Companions are today, i.e. following the Qur'ân and the Prophet's Sunnah (legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements)."]

How do you think they got weapons in the first place? Remember when Afghanistan was fighting Russia?
