As an Athletic Trainer, we used to carry the slim ones in our medical bags just for that occasion. I had only one time I needed to use it. It was during a men's soccer game on the college level. All the other players were laughing at him, but since he was the best player on the team, and it stopped his nose bleed, and was able to go back into the game, they weren't laughing for long. You just need to remember to cut the string off. They now make nose plugs, so most trainer's bags carry only tampons for women's sports. But, before they made those, it was even taught in our athletic training classes.

Something else that is good... for First Aid responders... if you come up on an accident, and you need something to stop bleeding in other areas, maxi pads are great. They are more sterile than the white shirt stuffed in your gym bag from 2 days ago.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Yes i honestly have done this before and it works. I have allergies but not the kind that you sneeze i just get bad nose bleeds. But also if you go to the emergency room for a nose bleed they have miniture tampons that they use, they just stick it up there and walk away.

I've never tried it, but it sounds like it would work just fine.
I mean, tampons were made to absorb and if they are sterile enough to use "down there" I see nothing wrong with using one for a nose bleed....hahaha, funny...but very resourceful.

No, but it sounds like a good idea. Might want to cut the string off..I hear it's a good idea to keep a couple in your car's survival kit just in case you get stuck in the wilderness and need to start a fire. Ripped up pieces make a good base for kindling.
And in a pinch, the paper wrapper has been known to substitude for a rolling paper......

I got a nosebleed in the car last week and didn't have anything to stop it except a pantyliner that was left over in the glove box.
It was very absorbent!
Hehe

Now you're grossing me out. I've never seen this and with ANY luck at all, I never will. Eeew! You're right it is just gauze. However, the association makes it gross.

I have found the best method to use for nosebleeds is the neck tourniquet. There are some unimportant side effects, however.

Lol, she's the man.
It seems as if it can work, but I don't recommend trying it.
