Police impound vehicles are generally safe to buy. Certainly no more dangerous than from any other source.

These are cars that were confiscated by the police due to any number of reasons. It's very similar in nature to buy cars that were reposessed by the bank.

Personally I would say no to a police impound. Reason behind it is because the cars that do get impounded do NOT have a clear title or good track record. If you know how to fix up cars it might be a good deal but if not you probably will be spending much more on repairs. If you buy a car from impound consider keeping it until its dead because it will have no trade value.

i bought a BMW a few years back from a police impound auction, and it needed some cosmetic work, but it ran like a top, and still does.

I don't know, I'd feel uneasy buying some perp's car, knowing if they saw it, they'd follow me home or something.

If I buy one, I'd get new plates and have it repainted just to be on the safe side.
