I tend to overswing most of the time esp since I started using rescue clubs. However, I can hit the balls fairly straight but lack distance. Does the overswing cause me to lack distance? I can't seem to correct my overswing, how can I best live with it and still improve my game?

overswinging for the amatuer golfer means that you will lose business but look at john daly he's been always overswinging and look at what he's achieved.
The truth is its up 2 yourself if you want to always be an average player then your swing is okay and work with it but if you take golf serious and want to go somewhere in the game then id advise getting a lesson and shortening your swing

Actually you do lose distance.

I got a lesson from a pro and he made me cut my swing way shorter. It feels like you're not going to get any power at all, but the ball goes 10-20 yarsd farther!

But you can still hit good shots with the overwing, look at John Daly!
