Princess is the on the top of my list for my favorite lines. If you have only been on Royal Caribbean and Carnival, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. All the cruise lines are nice, but Princess is several knotches above them as far as quality.

First of all Princess is a lot cleaner than the others, especially Carnival and the food is much better, rooms are nice, etc. But, the service you get on Princess is amazing. They treat every passenger like gold, once you cruise them again they have several extras they include for you. Princess really goes above and beyond in order to make sure that you have the absolute best time on your vacation. Princess is one of the nicest cruise lines to sail on, Cunard, Holland American, Celebrity, etc. are also really good ones. But, Princess is almost as good as them, but they run a little lower in price.

I really don't have any complaints as far as Princess. The only thing I would warn about is the fact that Princess does have a slightly older crowd onboard. I don't mind, I've always found the passengers to be a ton of fun and prefer them to the younger crowd that is on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. The people are always very nice.

The other thing is if you are traveling with kids. Sometimes kids prefer lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney, etc. that have more activities for them and are more for families. Princess does offer stuff for the kids, but there may be fewer kids onboard, etc.

Finally, Princess is a little more formal than the other ships. They are pretty strict with the formal nights and I have found that people dress up a little more than on some of the more laid back ships.

Personally I don't think there is anything bad about Princess, it is just whether or not the things I listed above will be a problem for you. I don't mind, I love Princess and I think it is a great line.

I've included a link to a really great website for cruise reviews and info. You can look up info on each ship you are considering, you can really help with the decision.

I have been on six Carnival cruises and three Princess ones. Princess tends to have the best itineraries compared to most other lines. It has an excellent children's program (when there's a certain number of kids onboard, they participate in a special science program). Princess tends to have fewer "silly" activities such as stuff the bikini type of pool games. But they do have plenty of activities. I didn't find them stuffy at all.

yes, princess is very good. better than carnival. carnival and princess are sister companies but princess is a little bit upscale than carnival. my family and i went to cruise at the carribean and my kids (2 teenagers and and a 9yrd old) totally enjoyed their stay that they want to go again. food is excellent and here's the tip- if you find yourself hungry at 12am, go to the top deck restaurant where they will serve you steak. we were joking about it coz they will not tell you what it is and can't believe they open til that time and serve you with it. man, the food are excellent and the shows.... wow!!! cabins are clean and the excursions are great. i totally recommend princess but if you can afford queen mary which is also their sister company, go for it but it's very pricey. you can book directly at princess. happy cruisin!
