I've used one for over 30 years & never had a problem. They have to be standard batteries. WARNING! High energy, long life, alkaline, nicad & other batteries CAN NOT be used.

Rechargeable batteries are a lot better, the chargers are not the same & are not compatible. Using the wrong battery in a charger can be dangerous.

I have both types of batteries & both types of chargers. For MP3 players, radios & toys, use a rechargeable battery system. Regular batteries & a charger designed for regular batteries are OK for flash lights & your TV's remote control.

Never use an ordinary charger for single use batteries, as the charger and/or batteries could explode. There is 1 kind of battery charger that re-charges "single use" batteries. It's called a "rezap" charger. I've seen them demonstrated on QVC, but I've never used one. I think they charge up about 6 times per battery. I don't know what they cost, or where they are available from. Sorry the info is limited, but that's all I know.

First, when you say "non-reusable", do you mean regular alkaline batteries, as in "non rechargeable"? If so, go ahead and put them in your "small charger" but let me know when you do that, I'd like to see what happens. Just kidding....if it's not too late, it is not recommended that you do so. Get some re-chargeable batteries that are compatible with your charger. And no, it is never safe to blow up batteries.

non-reusable batteries do not store electricity, they produce it by chemical reaction, there is NO WAY to recharge them. These so-called "chargers" just rely on "down-time",or rest for batteries, that may or may not cause them to start producing power again.Best not to use them

Non-rechargeable batteries should never be placed in a charger. Period.
