I'm probably a little biased on this one. I'm a combat veteran who hates war and the piles of humanity it leaves in it's wake. I've seen too much. It haunts me to this day.

War is not healthy for children and other living things. I do not believe that God wants anyone to kill anyone else for any reason. I believe there was a time when God had his people fight wars but I know that has not been the case at least since Jesus came here as his representative. The Bible says that God's people will learn war no more and as Jehovah's Witnesses we refuse to participate in war no matter what country we live in. We love our brothers and sisters the world over and are willing to die for them.

In the book of Alma chapter 43, verse 47 it states:

"And again, the Lord has said that: Ye shall defend your families even unto bloodshed..."

I believe that we are not only justified in defensive warfare, but that we are always obligated to protect our loved ones and those around us even if it means bloodshed.

Every situation is different and must be taken on an individual case. I approve the use of force to protect ourselves and others who need our assistance. Note the word "need". As in ask for.

War is okay in self-defence or for the sake of collective security. Wars of aggression are not okay.

War is not okay - but it sometimes may be a necessity. Less than our politicians think, though.
