Never heard of a fictional writing called "Bible."

I have read the factual Bible though.

If you are referring to the "Holy" Bible ...

There is and has been no other book like it (hmm...).

It is actually a collection of 66 books, written by 40 different authors from many different socio-economic backgrounds and from many locations over a period of about 1500 years. The Old Testament was written mostly in Hebrew and Aramaic. The New Testament was written in Koine Greek (common Greek was the "world dominant" language at the time thanks to the conquests and spreading of the Greek culture by Alexander the Great).

"Yet, it fits together into one cohesive story with an appropriate beginning, a logical ending, a central character, and a consistent theme." (http://www.christiananswers.net/q-aiia/biblecongruency.html)

If you can figure out that nature does not happen without a pattern (as we can clearly see) then it must have come about by intelligent design. The only logical conclusion for me and many others is that the Bible is the only reasonable explanation for this intelligent design.

Hope this helps. It should definitely give you a different perspective than you are getting from the popular/elite media and the Hollywood-types. Think about it -- Figure it out.

The Bible is neither "fiction", nor "Science". It is a "Spiritual" text. It is found in non-fiction sections in the Library because it is non-fiction. It contains a great deal of historical fact, writes about a number of historical figures. It also contains much allegory, and creation myth.

"to those about to give this a thumbs-down because of the word 'myth', kindly take a moment to look at the definition of the word 'myth' in your dictionary; it does not mean 'false tale.'"

Does all of the above meant that the Bible is meant to be taken completely literally? I doubt it; still, it's not 'fiction' by any definition of the word.

BTW.... I'm not a Christian. Oh yeah, I work in a Library too.

For the most part, no one. The bulk of the bible reflects not written but oral tradition which was recorded later.

The early part of the bible seems to stem from at least two and possibly three oral traditions. This is thought to be why there are doublets and triplets describing significant events in the OT. Similarly, there were a number of early Christian communities, each of whom had an oral tradition and each of whom wrote them down as the people who had known Jesus began to die. Four of those books are contained in the NT as the gospels. Many other gospels have also been found (including a number recently found at Nag Hammadi - which are not the same as the OT Dead Sea Scrolls).

About the only author we are sure of is Paul. Many (but not all) of the Pauline letters do appear to be letters from Paul.

The Bible was written by about 40 men over a period of 15 hundred years (1400 BC to AD 100) as they were "moved by Spirit." And after 2000 years of attack and criticism by scores of people older and wiser than you....it remains unblemished.

The Bible was written simply for money by a group of Jews many, many years ago. It is a collection of tall tales that were assembled many years ago for profit.
It is fictional and should be taken out of hotel rooms so people don't have to see that religious propaganda in their room.
