Oh yes, we went through this last year at our house and I was so fed up with the OTC products that didn't work. I checked online for home remedies. I really wanted something safe for the kids. I found one that works amazingly well. I bought prell shampoo(original green), a shower cap, and bottle of brown original listerine. You wash their hair with prell-no conditioner then saturate their hair with the listerine and put the shower cap on for 12 hours. I was amazed that it worked. When you take off the shower cap do so carefully as all the dead ones are in the shower cap. Then you wash their hair with prell again and then blow dry their hair. I did this treatment 2x to be safe but their was nothing the second time. I still picked out the eggs becuase I am not sure if it kills them. The listerine does burn a little when you put it on their head but only for a little bit and it does smell but it sure beat the OTC treatments cuz it actually worked. I would recommend this treatment any day. It only cost about $10 well worth it. Only wish I would have found it sooner.....Good luck

Well the best thing to do is just take the time to get rid of them the way you know works.. The shampoo and conditioner. Check you locals. Here in the nyc area we have a salon that does it for you. They give you the rest of the shampoo and conditioner and they guaranatee it won't come back for 90 days.

Get the special shampoo and the spray for furniture. Vinegar loosens the nits from the hairshaft NOT kill them. Treat every person in the house(include yourself). Wash EVERYTHING (all clothes, linen, jackets)in HOT water. Spray the pillows with the spray made for this. This is the only way to rid your house of them. Don't forget to check EVERY kid that comes over for nits. Otherwise you'll be doing it all over again.

Best way is the treatment shampoo. Lice eggs look like grey grains of sand. They cling to the base of the hair foliciles andare very hard to get of. The shampoo kills the eggs and lice and does not harm the individual who has them.

prevention use dandruff shampoo once a week (same medication in that as found in lice killer medications) vinegar removes the nits but doesn't kill lice ...also spraying hair with hair spray works to prevent lice from going to scalp and laying nits
