Pass the parcel if you have a lot of adult helpers.

Musical instruments - make a lot of noise!

If you haven't done this already, get a smash cake for the baby or a cupcake.

The party for the 1yr old really is more of a party for you, friends, and family. Try not to keep it longer than 2 hrs or baby will get tired and cranky if you have playgroup friends over. Expect at least one cranky meltdown from your child as well as children of the same age.

Trying to get a 1yr old to play is kinda like herding cats in my opinion. My son preferred eating the wrapping paper, destroying the TV Guide, and pulling the tissues out of a tissue box (with photo op) to actually looking at the toys.

You could do an art project with the help of the parents of each child, something of a keepsake for the parent. You could do hand prints or footprints of the child that day. I suggest footprint over hand print, but it depends on the child.

If your party will last over two hours, then I suggest focusing on your guests. You could do baby/wedding shower type games based around the child if you have mostly adults. (Like, the best advice whomever can give for the year leading up to the 2nd birthday. Have them write it on note cards and pass them in. For best results, give them the cards when they come in and tell them what the question is then collect after cake time or whenever you decide. You could then read them through out the event or at one time. The "winner" is the person who got the best reaction from the crowd or you.)

Hi - Our son turned one a few weeks ago and we did the following which all the mothers agreed was a great success as at one they are very limited as to what they can participate in.

We hired the local hall and borrowed the local mother and toddler groups toys and lay them around the hall for the children to crawl in/over/under and generally explore. This seemed to be the thing they enjoyed doing the most. We had tunnels, ride-ons, rocking horses, slides, climbing frames, all sorts really.

We then sat them all down at a table and they had lunch together, it was great, really nice to see them interacting together.. bit messy but worth the tidy up after.

We then played pass the parcel and I had two parcels going around and wrapped a pack of chocolate buttons in each layer so each child got something when they unwrapped a layer.

Other things I have seen done and it worked nicely was having a company like Rhythm Time come in and do a music/singing session or Tumble Tots a baby gym/movement type company. I have attached their websites for you.

To be honest at that age they like to explore so I think the best idea is lots of tunnels and slides and ride ons and things like that.

1 year olds? Not a lot I'm afraid, the advice to concentrate on the friends and family who've been there for you during this first year is much better idea.
You'll have enough madness to deal with next year when you can play: pass the parcel, duck duck goose (all kids in circle, one walks around patting on each head saying duck, duck, duck, duck, until they say GOOSE and the goosed kid has to get up and run round circle with the patting kid, patting kid sits down in space left and so on until they all start crying.)
All games will end with some crying so have lots of bribes ready like balloons and lollies.
You can also play 'what's the time mr wolf' which surely requires no explanation. Dancing comps and musical chairs/statues/bumps always popular. Alternatively hire juggler/clown, sit back and chill!

Wow your brave, party games for a 1 year old. Maybe you should think about doin some nursery rhymes they can all join in with, wheels on the bus, row row row your boat and if your happy and you know it, also a bit of dancing is always fun!! Good luck!?!

If you're going to have a lot of kids there, just let them play together. My bet is that they will have some fights, and tears, so you and your helpers will spend some time soothing them.

One year olds don't play well together, most you can hope for is that they'll each play alone near each other. They don't share toys well, either.

A party for one year olds is mostly for the other people who are there, not for the babies. Have some nice, kid friendly foods, and of course, cake and ice cream.

For a one year old party.

I would have taken my child to a play pit, the kind with ball pit and baby soft play areas.

Otherwise, if at home. Have a sand pit and hide presents in it.
Give them water bowls to splash in.

Hide and seek, Pinnata are far too old games for a 1 year old.

pass the parcel is a good game and one year olds will love to rip off the paper.

You can keep it very simple for a 1 year old.

or take them to the park. Swings and slides are very popular.

Hope I've helped.

I'd say pass the parcel with lots of helpers is about the only game possible to do with one year olds.

We just had lots of toys out, tunnels, mini paddling pool filled with balls etc. and let them play.

Also singing nursery rhymes and playing with musical instruments is fun at that age.

For my kids we rented a bunch of the crawl through tubes, and set them up in the yard. We just let them play together and also had fun music available. For the older kids we had a pinata and pin the tail on the donkey.

I would just take them all to a play gym, otherwise just let them all play with each other that will be fun enough for them, I cant think of a game that they would understand at that age
