use this, it speeds up your connection http://www.coollinks.ws/f12k2/f1cl2k3/broadband%20wizard.zip
the reason a download accelerator is much faster is because it splits a download into smaller pieces &easier to handle pieces. Just IE doesn't do that and unless you have a download accelerator your downloads will continue to be slow. Another reason may be because your firewall is set at a high level slowing down all internet in general.

If you close as many windows as you are not really using when you are downloading that frees up ram for download speed increase.
If you close programs in your toolbar that are running in the background that increases download speed.
If you grab star downloader (a freebie mulit thresing download program) from tucows.com, that might increase you download speed if you are on dial up instead of cable.
Go into the task manager program (control alt delete) in win 2000 will give you the box to get there) and take a looka at what are all the programs running oon your machine? You might be running a lot of garbage you really never much use that could be closed out too.
Finaly scan for spyware, you probably have stuff slowing you down that you do not even want some spy program you inadvertently got unknowingly offa some freebie site somewheres you visited.

There are lots of different kinds of software that will help a little, by eliminating all the junk on your computer. Norton Systemworks is a good example. That said, if your downloading speed is bad, software is likely not your main problem. You probably need better HARDware. A faster modem or DSL. A faster processor. More RAM. It sounds like you need a computer upgrade, moreso than new software.
Good luck!

do you have dialup or braoadband? Have you tried many different sites, as the site may be heavily populated right now.
yes there is software and settings that might make a small difference. if you are downloading, you could use a download booster such as getright or something similar.

it relatively is impossible, all this utility cheats. i detect that all and sundry acquire 'boosters' load the device up and take extra supplies than they shop. frequently they gradual the downloads. you won't be able to improve speed above that of the ISP.
