The word rapture is no where in the Bible. I have read different verses in the Bible regarding what could be called a rapture. The Bible says two men will be in the field, one will be taken and the other left. It didn't specify whether or not the man taken was the good or evil man. Because the bible states that both the good and evil will be taken. I have heard different preachers who had opposing views on the rapture. We don't need millions of people to be taken away to show us that the end is here. I think we all know that we are living in the end times. We have already seen events come to pass that the bible says are warnings of the end. We are definitely living in the eleventh hour. The only thing I can say is be prepared at all times. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Apocalypse doesn't actually mean "the end of the world." That is a common misconception and that meaning has been attached to that word. Apocalypse literally means "Revelation." That's why, in many Bibles, you either see the word Apocalypse, or you see the word Revelation as the title of the 66th book of the Bible. To describe in detail all that will happen would take way more time than most of us have. But, what John was inspired to write is about what would happen in the time of the end--not the end of the physical world, but the system of things in which Satan has control. How true Christians would experience persecution and about the hope of paradise on earth in the future. Many people think the book of Revelation is scary. But, actually, it holds out a wonderful hope for the future!

The word "rapture" only appears in the bible once in I Thessalonians 4. It is the greek word raptuo and is translated into English by the words caught up. The Rapture is taught in several places in the Bible, John 14 - Jesus said If I go and prepare a place for you I will come again. In I Thess 4:14 "... God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord."
It is als taught in more detail in 1 Corinthians 15, and in a number of other places as well.

The word rapture is nowhere in the Bible but has been conjured up by some as a misunderstanding of 1 Thessalonians 4:17. It actually was explaining that while those who had already died, would indeed be resurrected from death as Christ was, those of the "little flock" who were living in the "Lord's Day" would not remain asleep in death for any length of time but would simply pass from living to death to resurrection immediately.

The following is a quote from Wikipedia: "In Protestant Christian eschatology, the rapture ("harpazo" in Greek in 1 Thessalonians 4:17) is the name given to the event in which all Christians living on earth are simultaneously transported to Heaven to be with Jesus Christ. This is a common belief among Fundamentalists, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Baptists, and many independents. While almost all Christian groups believe that those who are saved will have eternal life, the term "rapture" is applied specifically to the event in which all Christians on earth simultaneously ascend to join Christ, and are transformed into immortal bodies."
However, the study of this subject is not quite as simple as it seems. The Bible and Jesus himself teach that some individuals will inherit the heavenly kingdom while others will inherit the earth.
(ASV) Matt 5: 3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. . . 5) 5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
This study is very interesting and full of hope.
If more information is desired please let me know.

NIV Bible
Rapture of the church
1 Corinthians 15:51
Philippians 3:11
1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17
2 Thessalonians 2: 7
and the book of Revelation will outline the church age, tribulation, Millennium, judgment and eternal state.
I think the second coming is also mentioned in the old testaments as well.

The word "rapture" is not in the Bible. This event is called the "Parousia," (Greek for the coming). It is spoken of in 1 Cor. 15:51ff, and 1 Thess. 4:13ff.
The word in 1 Thess. 4:17 is harpagasometha. It is best translated "shall be seized" or "apprehended." The A.V. (KJV) translates it "caught up."

1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17 is one instance.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the *dead shall rise first. Then we which are *alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord"
1st * "dead" Christians who have died prior to Christ returning.
2nd * "alive" Christians still living when Christ returns..
