I doubt that we'll ever be able to completely eliminate accidents from occurring on the road, but I'm sure that there's many things that could be done to reduce their occurrence and severity...
- Increased amounts of lighting, particularly in trouble spots that have frequent accidents during low visibility conditions
- Elimination of new highway construction projects that do not implement divided lanes...get rid of the concrete barrier currently separating the lanes and replace it with a wider open area (at least where it is geometrically feasible)
- Reduce lane widths by a foot and increase the shoulder by the difference (that extra foot doesn't make a big difference when you're paying attention, but can be a lifesaver when you really need to use that recovery area!)
- One stop light per lane at signalized intersections
- Ban drivers under 18 or 19 from using a cellphone while driving
- Harsher punishments for drivers with multiple DUI offenses
- Don't allow simulators to be used during drivers education courses
- Increase the duration a driver has to have their permit prior to receiving their license
- Parents can actually take responsibility for their children by actually driving with their kids the required time (300 hours, is it?) instead of just signing off!!!!

It is not possible to prevent accident, as every thing is beyond control, In ahmedabad, Pune 300 vehicles are added per day, But there is no road space development. So accident can not be avoided,
We can only do one thing , To help who are injured in accidents and help them to reach hospital, instead of leaving them in pain on road,
Expecting help from the Police is foolish, as they try to take the advantage of the situation.

You can't prevent an accident thats why its called an accident but it can be minimized. Doing things like giving enough room to the driver in front of you, adjusting your side mirrors properly to decrease your blind spot, keeping up with the flow of traffic, signaling when turning or switching lanes, avoid cutting people off.

we should have 2 keep driving at our side and we r alert for each and every moment on the road. if u r on the bike/scooter than firstly wear helmet. if u drive car than wear belt which is very important for our protection. some places gives u the instructions like this: speed at this place not cross upto whatever they described the speed limit like: 40-50,60-70. i think we should have 2 follow the rules for safe driving. And dont drink while driving. Be concentrate on driving.

you can't prevent accidents on the road as there will always be people who shouldn't have a drivers license, driving without a driver's license, driving too fast above the speed limit, driving under the influence ect....
all we can do is drive safely ourselves and hope for good insurance coverage when someone hits our car

Obey the traffic signs and signal lights. Give yourself plenty of
time to get where you are going. Give yourself plenty of space
between you and the driver ahead of you, and you're on the right
path toward a safe driving experience. Safe driving to you!
