I would have to hear both sides of the story before I would have a comment

Some people, from both sides of the coin, are so afraid of being proven wrong or unable to back up their beliefs that they see any refuttal of their beliefs as a direct attack torwards them.

It's called "being insecure".

She has a closed mind. She refuses to believe anything outside of what her comfortable space is. She knows there are other beliefs, but doesn't want to hear it.

Just let it roll off your back and let her learn the hard way. If she learns at all.

In the New Testament its said that when one is confronted, God will provide one with the answers, so its just possible that what they give you are what has been given them.

I agree totally! When religious people all around me want to pray and believe in god, I don't make a big fuss or start any huge debates.

But, when I let people know that I know there isn't a god, EVERYONE has a huge problem with me and they go on the attack. This is what religion does- It brainwashes people and puts so much fear in them that a made-up god is watching them, they feel they need to battle people who don't follow their beliefs.

Wake up folks! There is no god watching me right now and you typing a response at the very same time. It is impossible.
God was made up to control people and make money off people. It is sad that it is still happening in this day and age.

We atheists are often perceived the same way... discussion is only fun if both people want to play. True discussion is rare, especially in this forum.

But, I enjoy your questions. Just remember... tolerance, compassion, and understanding. When you present your views, I have no doubt it sometimes scares them. Let them go...

true christians are patient and supposed to be non combative. you categorizing all christians by your one account ( the only she you mentioned)you brought up, is a little sterio-typing. i am a christian and see that you had a poor example as a "debatee". maybe she isnt a true christian or maybe she isnt secure enough in her faith to bring truth to you. or perhapse she wasnt the right one to give you any insight to our wonderful KING.
calling us names(mental) is not showing yourself to be the bigger person. i know you mean it as a slurr by the tone you set in your question, but you are correct. we are mental giants.lol

I have discovered that most Christians fold under pressure. They want to believe that their way is the only way but they have very little actual fact to back it up. They claim that all the answers are in the Bible but most have never actually sat down and read it. For the most part, Christians are victims of misinformation and propaganda. They can't defend their beliefs but they expect you to come around to their point of view.

One of them asked to debate evolution with me so I sent him some arguments- he simply conceded every one of them without even challenging them then dragged me into a debate about abiogenesis (which isn't even evolution) with arguments that he had obviously rehearsed beforehand. Intellectual honesty isn't their strong point. They'll debate with you but only on their terms allowing them to shift the goalposts when it suits them.

When and where was this debate and with whom? You're on this website every time I turn on my computer, day or night, so I don't think you have the time to organize and attend a debate. I think you made the whole thing up to insult people of faith. Way too transparent. Back to the drawing board with this idea.
