No definitely no, they are ficitional characters created by Shakespeare.
However if you go to Verona in the North of Italy there is a statue of Juiliet below the balcony which was said to have inspired that famous scene.
It suppose to bring good luck to rub her breast (no I didn't make this up! see the pic on the link)

Heyy.. i dont think that was romeo and juliet but the couple did in fact exist.,.....Was Romeo and Juliet based on a true story?
Yes but this was not "Shakespeare in Love". Romeo and Juliet was in fact based on the life of two real lovers who both died for each other and lived in Verona, Italy in 1303. Both the Capulets and Montagues existed in Verona at this time and Shakespeare is reckoned to have discovered this tragic love story in Arthur Brooke's 1562 poem entitled "The Tragical Historye of Romeus and Juliet" .

Romeo and Juliet were fictional characters created to preform in a play by Shakespeare. How could you find fictional people buried under ground?
P.S: That couple that they found was from a different time period anyway. One of the National news channels joked about that it was a Romeo and Juliet because in the play they both die, but still love each other!

i read that news too. they didn't say it was romeo and juliet. but they do say it was 5000 to 6000 years old. i was touched because the skeletons are kinda hugging each other. they are currently running tests to confirm whether they are man and woman, because who knows? maybe they are both man. but i dont think they are romeo and juliet coz they are just fiction characters. maybe their story resembles much more than romeo and juliet.

no...it was a couple but not romeo and juliet. ancient times believed that if someone dies, someone else has to be sacrificed to go to the after world with the other person. the man was found with a arrow thru his back and the womans thru her head.

Ah fantasia romantica...r & j are characters in a story.
If you liked that story, go see the movie "The Illusionist"-another lovely story, with a similar story line, but happier ending. Enjoy!
