Most officers I see are riding around most of the times. They do not have THAT MUCH to do. It would certainly be a refreshing change.

The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) was launched in March of 2005 as a trilateral effort to increase security and enhance prosperity among the United States, Canada and Mexico through greater cooperation and information sharing.

This trilateral initiative is premised on our security and our economic prosperity being mutually reinforcing. The SPP recognizes that our three great nations are bound by a shared belief in freedom, economic opportunity, and strong democratic institutions.

The SPP provides the framework to ensure that North America is the safest and best place to live and do business. It includes ambitious security and prosperity programs to keep our borders closed to terrorism yet open to trade.

The SPP builds upon, but is separate from, our long-standing trade and economic relationships. It energizes other aspects of our cooperative relations, such as the protection of our environment, our food supply, and our public health.

Looking forward, President Bush, Prime Minister Harper and President Fox have identified emergency management; influenza pandemics, including avian influenza; energy security; and safe and secure gateways (border security and facilitation) as key priorities for the SPP. The Leaders also announced the creation of North American Competitiveness Council to fully incorporate the private sector into the SPP process.

This makes me ill to read.

A police officer should be able to ENFORCE the laws of this country without fear .ALL POLICE OFFICERS.

Yes, they should since there are laws. This is not racial profiling, this trying to enforce those laws. If officers are not allowed, that needs to change and go in the bill too. The guy gave the officer an international driver's license! The officer is going to want to know then where is documentation is in case he is illegal. If he's been here for 10 yrs where's his U.S license? I was pulled over in Germany, and when I gave them my U.S driver's license I was asked if I had any other documentation for being there legal. Is that discrimination too? I think not.

Yes-- that and schools, universities, and any other tax funded organizations. There should be "Safe Harbor" areas too--like hospitals to get medical care ( don't want the sick dying from being scared to get medical care--or choosing between deportation and medical care for their child). What is the point of having laws, regulations, and a governmental organizations if nothing is enforced. The local law enforcement has always turned a blind eye to enforce criminals in this sector----but, they sure stuck out their hand for 9/11 money for Homeland Security.

I think most don't want to tackle the problem so they pass the buck to the feds. Here's an article that I just read that LA may FINALLY be doing something about it. I doubt it leads to anything though.

I really hope this is that start of some serious effort to control this dangerous problem.I know these bad guys are NOT just some troubled youths looking for something to do. They are some of the most vicious criminals in the world. I was once victimized by a couple of them when they bound and gagged me during a tookover style robbery of the shop where I worked. I wasn't harmed physically but mentally the damage was pretty serious, needless to say.

You're a bit behind times, sir. It's official. Borders are going away. As brought to us by Bush while many were distracted with racist bickerings, we are now one Superstate. N.A.F.T.A., as you know, is an economic alliance between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Without Congressional over-site, Bush this winter signed into law a political extension of that agreement in which the three nations are now the new North American "Superstate" called SPP. All borders are to be "streamlined" and eventually eliminated, major new toll highways are already planned to connect all three nations (including the big one eight football fields wide right up through the center of the new Superstate that the King of Spain will hold the lease and profits from), a common currency (eventually, not at first) and common citizenship. Mexico even gets a big chunk of Kansas to use as a staging area for its highway construction and maintenance contracts. And, new eminent domain laws, also brought to you by Bush, will allow foreign and domestic developers take whatever land they want. Most old U.S. roads, bridges and docks are being leased out to foreigns interests and will become toll roads. That's right. The roads WE payed for have been leased by Bush and we will have to pay to use them. This is all fact. Here is a great illustration of the new big highway being built. And, here is the NEW government's official website:

No, I don't think that local law enforcement should concerrn itself with immigration laws. Emphasis in this area would be mostly ineffective and too little, too late! Local law has enough on it's plate already.

We don't need to deal with this issue on a piecemeal basis. We need to get serious. We need to resolve this issue once and for all. We need to gain control of our borders and retain that control for all time. Our own identity is at stake.

Return all U.S. troops stationed on foreign soil, post them within sight of each other along our entire border, arm them as needed, and give them all the technology that they need to secure our borders from illegals, smugglers, and terrorists.

In doing this, our military would be protecting U.S. interests right here at home instead of suffering casualties to benefit a distant foreign nation - who will spit in our face as a reward.

BRING THEM HOME AND PUT THEM TO WORK FOR THE U.S. - NOT HABIB!

Absolutely I do. And sanctuary cities should be enforced against, themselves. If a city passed a law 'not to ask' if people were counterfeiters because otherwise counterfeiters wouldn't come forward if they were crime victims, no court in the world would uphold that. Sanctuary city laws are the same.

Absolutely. They need to take a look at Florida. Especially with the Elian Gonzalez case. The feds ran in the house guns drawn and deported that illegal bastard. We were supposed to feel sorry for him because he floated over on a tire, and his family got eaten by sharks. So what, they shouldn't have put him in that situation. I mean these illegals are doing nothing but ruining our country. SOmeone's got to do something before its too late.
