just prior to braking out and while braking out which is usually 2-3 days long.

Its contagious prior to the sores showing, about a week prior, and then still is until the least scab has fallen off. Yes its a right pain

"the contagious bit", is when you are incubating the disease, which takes 21 days, and until the last "spot" has scabbed over dry. My grandchildren have just had it, and it seems that if you are not the first in your family to contract it then you will get a worse bout than your relation??? That is to say, more spots, more itchy, grumpier etc etc etc.

please do keep an eye on your child while they have chicken pox my daughter apparently had this last april when she was diagnosed whith enchepalitis which is infection of the brain which so im told can be brought on especially through having chick pox virus, its very scary! shes 4 and is having to learn to do all lifes skills again that she could do before she got sick ie, walking talking

Its contagious when there blistering
cause inside the blisters is watery
fluid which passes onto other people
thats how it gets passed around

I'm sure it starts a week before the blisters appear straight throw till the scab over...........when they are scabby it's fine.
