The 747-8 Intercontinental is the only jetliner in the 400- to 500-seat market, stretched 5.6 m (18.3 ft) from the 747-400 to provide 467 seats in a three-class configuration and a 14,815-km (8,000-nmi) range. Using 787-technology engines, the airplane will be quieter, produce lower emissions, and achieve better fuel economy than any competing jetliner. The 747 Intercontinental will provide nearly equivalent trip costs and 10 percent lower seat-mile costs than the 747-400, plus 28 percent greater cargo volume. Operating economics will offer a significant improvement over the A380.

Be sure to know your distance toward your destination. 1. Learn your straight in approaches (lined up With the runway higher up) 2. The 744 wont descend at 180 knots, get the airplane slower and it should slowly descend with a high up attitude. 3. Stay above the stall speed, the last thing you want doing is stalling at 4000ft. 4. P-A-T (power-attitude-trim) if your not descending, kill the power (be sure to know your aircraft limitations). 5. Don't be scared to use spoilers, flaps ETC. These all help with the "slowing down process". 6. Take your time with the descent, if you see the runway and you know your too high don't just plummet downwards. This type of maneuver seriously increases your airspeed and then you have no chance of landing. Simply GO AROUND or if you just cant be asked, i usually make a 360, continuing from your previous track and checking your radial. (this takes some practice) 7. On the landing, if you seem too slow on the flare, you can make a "hard touch down" which i personally hate so dont be scared to throttle up abit on the flare.

Cosmetics and a slick marketing job! After all, as Boeing keep telling us, there is no market for super jumbos, the future is in smaller long-range aircraft! ;-)
