I need to do this project and hand it up in a week. I hav an example: take a diesel car and pour used cooking oil into it rather than diesel, so that it does not produce so much smoke.

A lot of biological material is full of energy but just discarded. If most communities had small biomass power plants (they're more efficient when they're small), they could likely provide a lot of their own needs by collecting grass clippings, waste from weed-cutting, and even feces from animals. Instead, most of these things are discarded and the energy is lost, if not vented as polluting methane gas!
